About Me
Aloha, fam 👋🏻
My travels started about ten years ago. I was working as a peer counselor and began noticing that the world was breaking faster than I could support it one conversation at a time. That’s when I felt the pull to sell everything I owned and start a self-funded research project.
Since then, I’ve spent the last decade inside a living question:
What actually restores human connection once it’s been fragmented? How do we reverse the loneliness epidemic?
Not conceptually. Not intellectually. In the body, in real life, in community.
That question led me out of conventional paths and into a kind of long-form field research. I’ve lived inside different environments, social ecosystems, and rhythms of life, learning what allows people to soften, relate, and feel safe enough to be real with each other.
Over time, it became less about understanding connection and more about becoming someone who can hold it.
I’ve lived in intentional communities 🤗, informal collectives, shared homes, and places where the edges of community get tested.
For a number of years, I was in Hawai‘i in environments that asked everything of me-- 🌋 🏝️ places where the beauty is real and so is the pressure. That time shaped me. It refined my nervous system, my presence, and my ability to stay with people through intensity, through silence, through the subtle layers most conversations never reach.
What I’ve come to see is that sustainable communal living isn’t something I want to teach from the outside. It’s something I strive to embody. It lives in how we listen, how we respond, how we move in a room, how we handle tension while staying connected.
That’s the work I’ve been learning, quietly, for a long time.
When I stay with people, I like to contribute in ways that are tangible and supportive. I cook 🍳, clean 🧹, and can help hold gatherings—dinners, small salons, whatever fits the space. I’m comfortable repairing 🔧 most things around the house, helping with yard work, and generally keeping a place running smoothly. I’m also glad to help with kids or pets 🐕 if that’s part of your world.
I move through a home 🏡 with awareness and care, and I enjoy leaving a space a little more grounded than when I arrived.
Before heading onward to New Zealand 🇳🇿, I’m feeling a pull toward the Bay Area.
I feel there’s something rare and deeply valuable there-—an openness, a curiosity, a willingness to engage with ideas that haven’t fully landed yet. People who have built full lives and are still sensing that something deeper is possible in how we relate.
I’m not arriving with a program or a framework. I’m arriving to meet people, to be in real-time connection, and to let what I’ve learned take shape through actual relationships.
Couchsurfing, for me, is part of that. It’s a way to step into people’s worlds, share space, and experience how connection forms across different lives.
I’d love to meet you and experience what your world is like.
Much Aloha,
💚🤙🏻 Daniel

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Spotify's end-of-year wrap-up last year told me I listened to over 400 genres. I'm not sure how that's even possible but apparently my tastes are eclectic and I will probably enjoy whatever you're deeply passionate about.
Movies: if I'm going to take the time to watch a movie, I'd like it to be something that expands my mind and allows me to see past my own limitations. To experience a world that is in some way better than the one I currently inhabit.
Books: literally ANYTHING in the vein of human growth and raising our standards. I have read hundreds of books over the last fifteen years.
