Hey there I'm a 37 year old Spoken Word Artist from Ottawa, Ontario (please ignore where it says I am 18...I bumbled the year when signing up and it won't let me change it. This means i perform poetry for live audiences both in the context of competition and also as a paid feature performer. I am also an occasional Actor and from time to time carry out poetry workshops in Elementary and High Schools.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a Spoken Word Poet I often get paid to travel to various places and perform. However, I am often on my own as far as accommodations go. In many cases booking a hotel room or doing Air BNB is as much or more then what I am making to perform. Couchsurfing is a great boon to the poor artist.

Interests

I delve into a lot of things. Obviously I like poetry. I'm also all about live theatre and books. I'm a big nerd who has always wanted to be part of a grand LARPing adventure but never had that opportunity. I love books and board games, thoughtful conversations, and childish jokes. Mainly I like people, but can be a little shy until I get to know you which is completely opposite from my performer persona. Mainly, I am respectful, easy to get along with...and very much live and let live by nature. I'm open to any and all lifestyle choices as long as it involves consenting adults, and doesn't bring harm to others.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm very much into haunting Celtic ballads, also smoky voiced lounge singer music types. Also intimate acoustic house show performance type music. Basically, i love music that is raw, intimate, vulnerable and soulful. The opposite of what is often out there in pop culture.

My favourite movie is Ace Ventura Pet Detective (the first one only).Yes it is inappropriate, over-the-top, gross out, but also entirely unlike anything I have seen in movies before. And from that stand point the original is always the best.

Tom Robbins is astoundingly funny. I also love some of the classic writers like Dostoevsky, but The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Omnibus may just be the funniest thing I've ever read.
