About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making Milwaukee the best kept secret in the land.

ABOUT ME

I am up for just about anything. Laid back, but rarely bored, and hopefully not boring! When I host, activities have included typical drinks at a bar, brewery tours, bike-in movies under bridges, music festivals, potluck dinners at community gardens, Sylvan Esso concerts, concerts in the park, bike rides around town.... When I travel, I often prefer to do what locals do. But if the locals have a touristy thing they've been looking for an excuse to do, I'm down for that, too!

PHILOSOPHY

Do good. Be well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I have a bunch of hosting experiences under my belt and it has been a lot of fun. I have hosted an improv comedian, a Hungarian med student, a Russian teacher, a French Canadian musician, a microbiologist from Berlin-via-Chicago, a beer critic, an office administrator in a high school, two St. Louis models doing marketing for the great state of ... Texas of course, two cyclists on a quick ride up from Chicago, and so on. I look forward to meeting new friends and maybe visiting some of my past guests when I travel, as well!

Interests

I play rec league volleyball. I volunteer for urban renewal, environmental education, and other non-profit initiatives. I love to bike around the city for fun, exercise and transportation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Just started reading The Pale King by David Foster Wallace. Recently read American Gods by Neil Gaiman, Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon, and The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. All-time favorites include Foucault's Pendulum, House of Leaves, Infinite Jest, Kavalier and Clay, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Midnight's Children, Everything Is Illuminated, The Elegant Universe, The Omnivore's Dilemma, Consilience by E.O. Wilson.... I will occasionally read a book at a bar. Is that weird? For awhile, I would read a book while walking 5 miles home from work. That, I believe, is even weirder.

Movies: Brazil, The Big Lebowski, The Princess Bride, There Will Be Blood, 12 Monkeys, Primer, Memento, Usual Suspects, Les Miserables, The Prestige, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Dr. Strangelove, Pan's Labyrinth.... Lot's of dark ones, but I promise I'm not usually that dark.

Music: The Smiths, Arcade Fire, Okkervil River, Andrew Bird, Outkast, Regina Spektor, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Mountain Goats, TV on the Radio, Beirut, Neil Young, Of Montreal, Fleet Foxes, Pert Near Sandstone, The National, David Bowie, Dark Dark Dark, Busdriver, Fatty Acids, Janelle Monae, PHOX, Sylvan Esso, Neutral Milk Hotel, Hello Death, pretty much any classic Motown, many many more .... Please suggest something new and/or local to me.

TV: Twin Peaks, Arrested Development, The Wire, Community, Battlestar Galactica, Portlandia, That Mitchell & Webb Look, Peep Show, Louie, Parks & Recreation, Daily Show, Lost, Breaking Bad, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fishing with John. Happily, I don't spend too much time on TV these days.
