About Me
Hi there! I'm Dan.
I am an avid traveler, constant pursuer of enriching and authentic life experiences, major outdoors enthusiast, and self-diagnosed coffee, beer, and wine lover.
My studies have taken me to the foothills of the Himalaya Mountains in India, ancient ruins of Greece, dense Guatemala temperate rain forests, and the breathtaking Belizean coast. Since graduating with a Bachelor of the Arts in Biology and Spanish in May 2017, I have had the great pleasure of embarking on a five-month-long road trip with my closest friend. Our shared goal is to experience America, one back road at a time. Next year, we plan to become medical students, but right now, we are living out our One Wild Whim: traveling to some of the most iconic locations in the U. S. of A. and getting to know people in each region. While we spend most nights in a tent, camping the "right" way, we love the opportunity to stay with friends and strangers that quickly become friends through AirBnB, Hipcamp, and Couchsurfing.
When I asked Evan, my best friend, to help me write the 'About Me' section for our blog, this is what he said:
"[Dan] is often times introduced by others as the nicest person you’ll even meet. However, that makes him uncomfortable. So instead, we’ll just say he’s decent enough, and not terribly mean. Dan is a man of passions–which is clear in his pursuit of becoming a great physician, his commitment to deepening his faith and relationships, and his desire to conserve one of the world’s greatest attributes: nature. He is also a great friend, a weirdo, a gentle giant, a man of convictions, and an avid adventurer. Here and there, he likes to write, and he is damn good at it...If you see Dan while we are on the road, strike up a conversation! It just might be one of the more interesting, and likely the nicest, conversations you’ve ever had.."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My closest friend and I are currently on a five-month-long adventure through the United States. During our trip, we are diving into literature and photography, exploring the beauty our nation has to offer, and getting to know the people of each region. We are using Couchsurfing primarily for a place to stay in large cities. We recognize that the best way to meet great people is to stay with them! Visiting new places is fun, but the enriching experiences I seek in travel can only gained by getting to know the people in these new places. Simply put: I'm on Couchsuring because I want to learn from you.
