About Me

Currently a Ph.D. student at Yale University. Love learning languages, experiencing cultures and meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I think that when you travel, you don't get the full cultural experience when you are constantly attending guided tours or following the directions of the tourism office. I think that meeting the local inhabitants of an area is the only way to get fully immersed in what life is like in an area and Couchsurfing is a great way to do it!

Interests

I love reading. I love listening to all kinds of music. I love talking to people about travel and cultural experiences. I love experiencing the beauty of mountains and forests at national parks. I love animals, both wild and domestic. Dogs and chinchillas are my favorite domestic animals (I have one of each), and the Spanish Lynx is my favorite wild animal (I have none).

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite bands include: Arcade Fire, Stromae, Hozier, Young the Giant, Beach House, Breakbot, and Mac DeMarco. I don't watch many movies because I would rather read a book or explore, but I do like the movie Life of Pi quite a bit. My favorite book is Le Petit Prince because it is so simple yet it has a grand message for old and young.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think that one amazing thing I've done is that I hiked to the top of Panama's highest peak. Volcan Baru (Baru Volcano) is a possibly active volcano in Panama's Chiriqui Province. I hiked for about 8 hours to reach the top and got to see the sunset.

Also, in the summer after my sophomore year of college I took a solo backpacking trip across western Europe. I spent 70 days traveling, couchsurfing, and enjoying life! :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can't wait to be able to share my experiences with my hosts. I can share my travel experiences with them in addition to stories from my experience in the world. I would also love to share in conversation about culture and humanity. I can share my taste in music and books. And of course, I will share my immense gratitude to any willing host.
