About Me
Born in the age of cassettes, walkman and MTV playing music videos, I became a teenager in the CD and discman era. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the music industry when mp3s, iPods and YouTube started taking over the world. I am currently in my fourth and last year of a Music Business B.A. (Hons) at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland, and meanwhile streaming has been changing the face of music consumption. Oh, and vinyls have been making a comeback of course.
I was born in Paris of a Scottish mother and a Canadian father, have lived, worked and backpacked through 28 countries, am fluent in French, English and Spanish, love my sports and fitness, and am mesmerised by everything to do with space, astronomy and, the creative and entertainment industries of course. My first albums were an Elvis Presley 'Golden Best-of' and Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP. My first gig was Chuck Berry at the Paris Olympia and my first festival was the Fête de l'Humanité in Paris in 2001.
Over the course of my university years I have managed local artists and helped develop their careers as well as was given the opportunity to get some hands-on experience in event organisation and promotion. In addition to my work in events and artist management, I was chosen to manage the university label Vadana Records, working on single release campaigns for bands Indigo Velvet and Broken Boy, reaching over 100.000 listens on Spotify.
As someone who lives and breathes music, to be alive in this day and age and see how music and technology evolve hand in hand is beyond amazing. I love every step of this journey and can’t wait to contribute to opening new dimensions for the music fans of this planet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
About to graduate on Thursday in Scotland, I have been offered a huge opportunity to do an internship at a great company in Düsseldorf for 4 months! Only problem, is that they would pay me 250€/month during the internship... I still don't understand how this is legal but that aside it is too big of an opportunity not to try and make it work!
I understand this is a long stretch, and 4 months isn't exactly short, but I promised myself I would explore all options available to me to try to make this happen, and this is one of them :)
