About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Working as a communications person in Botswana for Public Concern International. Prior to that was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Botswana for two-plus years.

ABOUT ME
A free-spirit yet grounded, with a great sense of humour. An international guy with a global perspective both personally and politically. Willing to try almost anything -- and eat just about anything at least once! A balance of outgoing and internally-driven. Someone who can relate to people in all walks of life and find something in common from a CEO to a taxi driver.

PHILOSOPHY

You are where you travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Limited couch surfing experience -- a couple of times in Melbourne, Australia and in Queenstown Tasmania. Both good experiences.

Interests

Keeping current with international events and politics -- and sports. Always keeping an eye out on the latest in medicine, astronomy, anthropology, archeology, biology and any new discoveries and advances, including those in the technology area.

Music, Movies, and Books

Eclectic tastes in music, including jazz, blues, classical, world, hip-hop and punk rock. Movies have to be good or don't waste my time -- and most waste my time. Life of Others, the German movie about the Big Brother oppression in East Germany is an example of a favorite of mine. Books -- among my favorites is 100 Years of Solitude.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While snorkeling off the island of Mabul, Borneo, Malaysia, came across five turtles -- swimming down alongside of four of them and then following one turtle from the surface looking down about four feet. We swam together for at least 10 minutes. Our strokes were in syncs and water flowed below and around us. We swam 'together' and for those minutes there was nothing else but me and the turtle and the flowing ocean. A surreal experience that I'll never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

People from all walks of life and all interests. I'm fascinated to learn something new -- everyone can teach me something I don't know -- and I hope I can share knowledge that helps them.
