About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover ways to help produce a better society.

ABOUT ME

I am a writer, adventurer, and talker. My drive to meet new people, hear new stories, and see new places is largely to fuel my creative drive. I believe that fiction is beautiful, but a truly power non-fiction story requires an incredible writer who knows how to experience life, and it is one of my chief goals to accomplish that feat.

I am incredibly sociable and have been known to make friends on a whim almost everywhere I go, and though I sometimes struggle to get myself out of my comfort zone, that is definitely where I thrive.

I have been hiking as long as I could figure out how to get into the woods without my mom yelling at me, and love to experience new biomes and environments. Urban hiking counts.

My appearance ranges from well-to-do sophisticate to hippy beatnik, and I can transform from one to the other rapidly. I am not certain which suits me better.

PHILOSOPHY

People are very often caught asleep, distracted by a thousand worries and sucked into their own minds rather than looking at the enormity of life and the universe and recognizing that their role cannot simply be to survive. I believe that a life without passion, without love, is the worst kind of life, and would rather die at the age of 30 with a memoir filled than live to 90 with the regret of, "but what did I get out of it?"

I believe that strangers can become the best of friends in a moment, and that the best of friends can be the truest form of family.

I believe that the world is good, that there is kindness in strangers, and that it requires an incredible effort and tremendous bravery to ever see how far those two things truly go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Saying, "yes." I intend to jump on any adventure offered as long as the risks seem less than entirely life threatening or illegal (and that could be grey). If someone hosts me, I will gladly cook, clean, tell stories, wash their car, but I would much rather go hiking or bar-hopping or get into some sort of mischief with awesome people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Though I only have 5 formal reviews, I've interacted with dozens of surfers and hosts over the past several years. I have not had my own residence to host out of, but I have helped many roommates host on their accord. I genuinely don't believe there's a better way to get to know the world than through opening your arms, or meeting people who do the same.

Interests

Reading, writing, philosophy, video games, hiking, drinking, swimming, obstacle course races, cooking.

I believe in exploring the world- mastering new skills, learning about new people, and looking for new ways to produce a better one.

I help non-profits and social entrepreneurs get off the ground and into the public mindset, always trying to push forward projects that can do good.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow, this could be incredibly long... I read just about everything. Non-fiction, fantasy, YA, etc. I watch sitcoms, dramas, cartoons (can you say Adventure Time?) and more.

My favorite book is actually Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, and I believe it was largely what inspired my idealism as a child.

Into the Wild, Cloud Atlas, and The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test were the most recent candidates for forcing me to begin moving forward.

Neil Gaiman is my personal idol, and I'm rarely without a copy of his short stories.

Think on These Things by Krishnamurti is a focus of frequent reflection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nah, let's save the good stories for when we meet up, shall we?

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach anyone how to improve their writing, and would love for advice on how to improve my own as well.

I work as a digital marketer, editor, and creative writer on a variety of projects. I have an aptitude for showing people ways that they can turn their hobbies and passions into life-sustaining projects or careers.

I'm always looking for new ways to live- different ways of thinking, new recipes, new hobbies, etc. By understanding the diversity of life on this planet, we can create a society that will enable everyone to thrive.
