ABOUT ME
More about who I am:
I just came back from an amazing year of travels which included WOOFing in Tuscany, backpacking through France, Italy, Hungary, Austria and Europe. Worked for 3 months as an engineer in Ghana, then backpacked in southern Africa for 4 months. Rafted down the Zambezi river. Ran away from an elephant (for my life!) in the Okavango Delta. Learned how to surf in South Africa. Worked as a waiter in Cape Town. Then sailed from Cape Town to Halifax on a traditional tallship for 4 months! How I returned in one piece, I do not know...
-I studied Civil Engineering at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, my home town.
-I love meeting new people, and getting an insider's perspective on a city.
-I like bullet points
PHILOSOPHY
Every encounter has something to offer, and every experience is a learning opportunity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Since I am traveling around Europe, Africa and then potentially Asia, I would really like to get a more authentic experience, and to avoid when possible the generic hostels. I'm looking forward to meeting you and sharing our stories.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Amazing so far!
Stayed with a friend's friend in Paris and absolutely loved it. Then surfed in Vienna, Munich and Berlin.
Finally, surfed in Durban, South Africa, as well. That was sweet.
Interests
I am interested in renewable energy, in questioning our values and beliefs, in international development and in our relationship with developing communities/countries.
I really enjoy reading, especially books that will teach me something, or help me grow in some way. Not a huge fan of fluff.
I like highly level discussions about humanity, our role in this world, and our impact on the environment.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love books. Historical fictions are near the top. Books about development or the environment. Self help books also have a lot to offer. Favorites: The Power of One. The Exodus, Tipping Point, What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20, Things Fall Apart, A Short History of Nearly Everything.
As for music, I like indie rock, generally happy music. Think Vampire Weekend, Basia Bulat, John Mayer's earlier stuff, Noah and the Whale, Mumford and Sons, piano and classical music, movie soundtracks, the Beatles.
Movies: Up the Yangtze, Into the Wild, Stranger than Fiction, The Way Home (Korean).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sailed across the Atlantic for 4 months in a tallship.
Worked as an engineer in Ghana for 3 months.

I would love to hear about your travel experiences. Where have you been? WHat did you learn? What would you avoid, or seek out? I also really like languages and would love to learn the basics.
I speak French and would love to teach you some. I also make a delicious loaf of bread - would love to show you this and eat it with you :)
