About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm here to meet fantastic people and discover new stuff, so I can grow as a person and take pot shots at improving the universe.

ABOUT ME

I like the world, and most people in it. After launching a Norwegian volunteer startup last year (frivillig.no) I'm now trying to do a startup automating receipts (bilagskortet.no). Educated as a service and interaction designer and eternal optimist.

On my spare time I'm trying to learn everything: After completing a one year long singing course (I was afraid to sing) I just started piano practice, and although I'm still pretty shit it's really fun how much more I notice in music now. I'm interested in just about any topic, and love talking with people who are passionate about something.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm an optimist and a doer who thinks the world is a better place now than it was before but that there's still a lot to do.

My personal philosophy is changing, and I'm still not sure where it'll land. What I know for sure is that I'm a skeptic and a political animal who found out that a lot of what I previously believed was false, and that I've since been open to all falsifiable theories about us humans and the lives we live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm here to meet fantastic people and discover new stuff. Couchsurfing is my favourite way to travel, and I've never been let down by the great hosts or travellers I've met.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first time was when I took 8 weeks couchsurfing in India. That was A W E S O M E (and also the first time I had travelled properly). Couchsurfing made sure I met people I would have never met otherwise, heard stories I would have never been told otherwise and saw places I would have never seen otherwise.

Interests

Being terrible at things. I've learned you have to fail a hundred times to succeed. So I try to get it through with. I fail relentlessly, pick myself up again and try again and again.
Dogs. I love them. My family has a lovely Airedale terrier named Pippi.
Everything else. (Given a bit of time)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I read, but not as much as I'd like. Just started on the Holmes books, and finished "The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night-time".

Music and movies are two recent entries into my life. Movies still only occupy a small part of it, but music (although it had been there all along) has suddenly jumped center stage. I love dancing and listening.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm usually a little awestruck every time I walk a little off my beaten path and see something that's new to me. That said, the contrasts of India are definitely up there, and sleeping in the Golden temple has to be one of the most amazing things I've ever done. (I even blogged it at http://tur.danieljackson.no/post/32445757320/sikh-temples-have-an-extremely-welcoming-tradition )

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach HTML/CSS/JS and other webcoding, as well as webdesign, and I'll be happy to give you a quick course if you want to learn.

I can teach Norwegian.

Countries I’ve Visited
