About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn about life and living

ABOUT ME

If you've ever read Calvin and Hobbes, you've got a pretty good description of me. Mild-mannered but adventurous, curious with the entire world and open to most any experience, I am a restless explorer searching for like-minded souls. I am particularly interested in experiencing other cultures and fostering a global perspective, if such a thing is possible. Occasionally a smart-ass.

PHILOSOPHY

Patience is a virtue. I'll try anything once, but take everything in moderation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing, hopefully will be able to host once I have a permanent address back in the U.S.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On my first CS trip through Indonesia!

Interests

The natural environment, both on land and underwater, calls to me. I am a photojournalist who is enthusiastic about documentary and natural history photography, and exploring how cultures relate to and value their land and natural resources. I'm a scuba diver with PADI divemaster certification who loves nothing more than being weightless underwater, but I also feel just as home in the heart of a rainforest. But most of all, I love to hear a good story and learn something new each day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking up to a 60m waterfall in the Cloud Forest of Monteverde, Costa Rica, and laying at the base as the clouds opened up and a warm summer rain mixed in with the falls.

Drift diving along currents off the coast of Baja Mexico and finding my own personal zen as the waters carried me along.

Hearing The National's "About Today" live for the first time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can bake some delicious scones and cookies, talk for hours about photography, environmental conservation, and agriculture, and play a little bit of guitar. I want to learn new dances, recipes, religions and perspectives.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Philippines

Countries I’ve Lived In
