ABOUT ME

I am originally from Bristol but at the moment I am working in Edinburgh, which is a beautiful city. I work in software engineering but my real passion is travelling, meeting people, and photography. I have done a few big trips in the past, in South America, South East Asia, and most recently in Indonesia, Nepal and India.

I am interested in seeing all kinds of different places and am equally happy spending time in an interesting city enjoying the night life or trekking in a beautiful national park.

I am a very easy going guy and like to get along with people of any background.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a couple of times in Bristol but not as much as I would have liked. I also met up with a couple of people to show them around the city, and made some good friends that way. I have also surfed a number of times in other countries, in South America and Germany in particular.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had only positive experiences so far and have met some fantastic people who I still keep in touch with.

Interests

I love to travel and see new places.
I also very much enjoy hiking and trekking and being amongst the natural world. Fascinated by wildlife and nature, particularly bird life.
Also like other things such as rafting, kayaking, scuba diving - recently became a certified diver but havent had much opportunity to do much diving since so I am by no means an expert, but would love to do more.

Like reading fiction and non-fiction, listening to most kinds of music, love cinema and comedy.

I also enjoy just socialising with people and making new friends, especially if over a good beer in a nice bar or pub.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pretty much anything and everything, within reason.
Music:
Rock - from the 60s to today. Traditionally been more of an 'alternative' or 'indie' fan especially early 80s post-punk and new wave, am a big fan of the Fall, Talking Heads, Joy Division and New Order..
Electronica - especially Warp stuff such as Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada
Hip hop - anything from Beastie Boys and Jurassic Five to more experimental stuff like Clouddead.
Love world music as well, especially Latin. Reggae and dub too.

Films - I like loads of films, some of my favourites are Blade Runner, City of God, Mulholland Drive, Festen.

TV - love the Wire and other HBO dramas. Love comedy - particularly Seinfeld, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Simpsons (when it was good), Alan Partridge, Father Ted, The Day Today and other Chris Morris things, loads more.
