ABOUT ME

(EN) I live in Lubań, which is located 25 km away from border with Germany and 15 km away from border with Czech Republic. There are nearly 25,000 of residents living in this town. Here is a link to Lubań's official website, where you can find many attractions : www.luban.pl. The mountains that are located about 30 minutes away from the town are worth mentioning. My flat is about 70 metres square. There are four rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and a hall. Getting to the city centre from my apartment on foot takes about 10 minutes. In my flat's area you can find : an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a bowling club and two large hypermarkets. I've worked in uniform services for several years now. I regularly work out at the gym. I've recently started to jog.

(DE) Ich wohne alleine in Lubań (ehem. Lauban), einer Stadt, die 25 km von der deutschen und 15 km von der tschechischen Grenze entfernt ist. Lubań hat etwa 25,000 Einwohner. Viele touristische Attraktionen sind auf der offiziellen Webseite der Stadt www.luban.pl beschrieben. Die Gegend hat eine sehr interessante Geschichte, die man am besten live erzählen kann. Nur 30 Minuten Fahrzeit ist von Lubań das Gebirge entfernt. Meine Wohnung hat etwa 70 m2. . Es ist eine 4- Zimmer - Wohnung mit Küche, Bad, WC und Vorzimmer. Das Stadtzentrum ist nur 10 Minuten Spaziergang von meiner Wohnung entfernt. Ich wohne im Plattenbau. In der Nähe gibt es: Schwimmbad, Sauna, Friseursalon, Kegelbahn, zwei große Hypermärkte. Schon einige Jahre bin ich im Uniformdienst tätig. Ich gehe regelmäßig ins Fitnesscenter. Neulich habe ich mit Jogging angefangen.

(PL) Mieszkam sam w miejscowości Lubań, 25km do granicy z Niemcami i 15 do granicy z Czechami. W Lubaniu mieszka około 25,000 mieszkańców. Oficjalna strona gdzie można obejrzeć wiele atrakcji miasta to: www.luban.pl. Okolice lubania to już historia do opowiedzenia na żywo, ale wspomnieć można chociażby o pobliskich górach, do których dotarcie to tylko 30min podróży autem. Moje mieszkanie to około 70mkw, cztery pokoje, kuchnia, łazienka, wc i przedpokój. Do centrum jest 10min pieszo. W okolicach mojego mieszkania (blokowisko) są: basen, sauna, fryzjer, kręgielnia, dwa duże hipermarkety. Pracuję w służbie mundurowej od kilku lat, regularnie chodzę na siłownię, ostatnio zacząłem biegać.

PHILOSOPHY

(EN) They say I am very stubborn, but I would rather call myself an incurable optimist who does
everything he can to achive his goals. I try to plan everything in advance and I try to accomplish those plans ( despite the fact that in everyday life I am a muddler who always forgets about prosaic things). It usually works out, but sometimes it fails painfully. Although I tried my best to prevent it, my marriage fell apart. I have an adorable four-year-old daughter from this relationship. Her name is Julia and she lives with her mom. I regularly spend my free time with her and take her on little outings.

(DE) Angeblich bin ich sehr eigensinnig, aber ich würde mich eher als einen unverbesserlichen Optimisten beschreiben, der mit einem übertriebenen Eifer an Ziele geht. Immer versuche ich manche Dinge langfristig zu planen und ich versuche meine Ziele zu erreichen (obwohl ich auch ein unordentlicher Mensch bin und prosaische Dinge vergesse). Dies klappt oft, es gibt aber auch schmerzhafte Misserfolge. Meine Ehe hat misslungen, trotz der besten Absichten. Von dieser Ehe habe ich eine fast vierjährige Tochter Julia, die jetzt mit ihrer Mutter wohnt. Ich besuche sie regelmäßig und wir verbringen viel Zeit auf unseren Ausflügen zusammen.

(PL) Ponoć jestem chorobliwie uparty, ale ja nazwałbym się niepoprawnym optymistą, który z uporem maniaka dąży do pewnych celów. Zawsze staram się zaplanować pewne rzeczy długofalowo i staram się je osiągnąć (mimo, że w samym życiu jestem bałaganiarzem zapominającym o prozaicznych rzeczach). Często się udaje, ale są i bolesne porażki. Nie wyszło mi moje małżeństwo, mimo szczerych chęci. Z tego związku mam prawie czteroletnią córkę Julię, która mieszka ze swoją mamą, którą regularnie odbieram na nasze wspólne wypady.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

(EN) So far I don't have any experience in this. I have never accommodated anyone and I have never been somebody's else's guest.

(DE) Bisher habe ich darin keine Erfahrung. Ich habe noch niemanden als Gast begrüßen dürfen und ich habe auch solche Hilfe nicht genutzt.

(PL) Nie mam na razie doświadczenia. Jeszcze nikogo nie gościłem oraz sam nigdy nie korzystałem z podobnej pomocy.

Music, Movies, and Books

(EN) Music - many kinds of music, from TV, from the Internet or disco music. Movies - I prefer TV
series to movies (when I have time), for example : Dexter, True Blood, Walking Dead. Books
- recently I haven't read many books, because it's extremely time consuming. However, I read many magazines - especially popular weekly magazines. I do like theather, but I also haven't had much time to see any play.

(DE) Ich mag verschiedene Arten von Musik- vom Fernsehen, Internet, eventuell in der Disco. Für Filme habe ich nicht viel Zeit, und wenn schon dann mag ich eher Fernsehserien, wie: Dexter, True Blood, Walking Dead. Bücher lese ich neulich selten, aber dagegen lese ich viele Zeitungen und Zeitschriften, vor allem populäre Wochenzeitschriften. Ich mag Theater, obwohl ich es neulich auch vernachlässigt habe.

(PL) Muzyka – różna, z tv, z Internetu, ewentualnie jakaś dyskoteka. Filmy – jak mam czas, to wolę seriale np.: Dexter, True Blood, Walking Dead. Książki – ostatnio to rzadkość, czytam jednak sporo gazet – zwłaszcza popularne tygodniki. Lubię natomiast teatr, chociaż ostatnio zaniedbałem ten temat.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

(EN) I captured on pictures lots of memories that would have gone irrevocably. I love taking pictures - it's one of my biggest passions. I love to come back to those photos in order to recall some marvelous moments. When it comes to the most amazing thing I have ever done in my whole life, I would say that it is graduation from University. It took me a lot of time and effort (about 10 years with some breaks), but it was worth it. I am glad I have accomplished it.

(DE) Viele Erinnerungen, die ich verloren habe verewige ich auf Fotos. Fotografieren ist meine große Leidenschaft. Dank den Fotos kann ich mich an die Momente erinnern, die ich schon längst vergessen hatte. Und wenn es um eine tolle Sache geht, die ich gemacht habe, ist es das Studienabschluss. Dafür habe ich mit Pausen 10 Jahre gebraucht.

(PL) Dużo wspomnień, które utraciłem uwieczniam na zdjęciach, których robienie jest moją dużą pasją. Często do nich wracam, dzięki czemu przypominam sobie chwile, które uleciały mi z głowy. Jeżeli chodzi o niesamowitą rzecz którą zrobiłem, to ukończenie studiów, które z przerwami zajęły mi prawie 10 lat.
