About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To try not to have any 'If only I'd.....' moments.
ABOUT ME
I'm currently pretending to be doing a PhD in health communication at Nottingham Uni, spending long hours pining out the window and thinking about traveling. Whilst the PhD may mean I'm even less well suited for participating in the real world, on the plus side it should mean I'm unnecessarily good at spelling.
One of the many things I've picked up from past travels is that the best thing about traveling is the amazing people you meet in the most unexpected places - i guess that's part of why couchsurfing seems such a glorious concept, and one which I'm happy to be a part of.
After being away for a while, I'm pretty easy going about most things - I can fall sleep pretty much anywhere - but would jump at the opportunity to explore and immerse myself in somewhere new with a person who knows it a little better.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music... This could take a while, so, as an abbreviated list: Black Keys, Seasick Steve, Hendrix, John Frusciante/the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Zeppelin, Marley, Regina Spektor, Ray Lamontagne, Bon Iver, Rodrigo y Gabriela... more or less anything with a guitar and the occasional foray into things without. For example: The Cinematic Orchestra, Pete Rock, Nightmares on Wax, Portishead, Quantic, RJD2, J5.
Films... Lost in Bruges - over and over.
Books... The God of Small Things, Trainspotting, Of Mice and Men, Catch 22, David Crystal's 'Rediscover Grammar' (well, maybe), Gulliver's Travels, most things modernist, The Oustider, Hemmingway.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In no particular order...
Watching the sun rise on the Himalayas.
Kayaking Halong Bay.
Getting hit by a motorbike.
Walking about on t' Great Wall.
Still being average at the guitar.
Continually failing to remember which is east and which is west.
Jumping from a plane.
Swimming in some seriously cold lakes.
Attempting to keep up with which side of the road the traffic's coming from.
Leaving Buckinghamshire.
Teach, Learn, Share
Languages - I'd love to learn whatever you can offer and will do the same myself. I firmly believe that language learning should be a cultural experience, not just a matter of learning words!
Music - I'm always up for a jam and will happily to give a guitar lesson or three to anyone who is just starting out.
Cooking - I seriously love making and eating awesome food from every different part of the planet so would love to share ways of making this happen!
