About Me

My current mission is to travel across the world and absorb cultures like a sponge! I'm a curious young man, who'd love to experience cultures first hand and basically learning by doing! The bucket list includes visiting all 194 countries in the world, and it's currently a work in progress.

More about myself: I'm a guy who loves to travel! As a "proof of concept", I'm currently enrolled in a MA programme for Tourism, so that I can abuse it as a legitimate career minded excuse to travel more frequently and over extended periods of time. So whenever my education allows me to travel I'll be out exploring the world! And by using Couchsurfing I see it as an opportunity to a) meet new people, b) learn about the culture from a local POV, and c) make it a cheap(er) and (more) unforgettable experience!

My philosophy is "you can't have an opinion about things, if you haven't experienced them first hand". Thus, whenever I get the opportunity to do something new and outside of my comfort zone, I'd be willing to try it. That's how I live my life (or wanna live - I'm saying this due to the fact that I'm a full-time student at the moment, which takes up quite a substantial amount of my time).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since that I'm currently new, I suppose I don't participate that well yet, but once time allows me to get more into the whole CS-environment, I'm gonna be more active in hosting/couchsurfing/attending events, etc.

In regards to my Couchsurfing experience, I have be honest: I'm a rookie! I've only tried it once before, but this experience gave me something unique and unforgettable in return - so I'm up for hosting others!

Interests

Well, due to my very curiously-minded nature, I find almost anything interesting; at the very least I'd like to know more about it. If I had to point out a few things, though, I'd probably say sports and movies. I've been involved in sports since I could walk, and I've found interest in almost all kinds of sports (though the one sport I love the most is Basketball).
In regards to movies, then I'm big on all kinds of movies, although mostly documentaries and horror movies. Movies are a good way to spend your time, while still being able to socialize with others. The rest of my sparetime's spent on studying, working out, sleeping, eating, playing video games or socializing with others - I tend to not limit myself to any one or two kinds of activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I prefer Rock and Electronic more than any other genres, but I can listen to virtually any kind of music.
Movie: Mostly into horror, fantasy/sci-fi and documentaries, but I can watch anything in the right company.
Books: I'm huge on fantasy and biographies, although it depends the author (in terms of biographies).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2013, I was studying abroad (Northern Michigan University), and I got into a Harry Potter fanclub. One night we discovered that the following there was a Harry Potter expo in Manhattan, where the James and Oliver Phelps (The Weasley twins), would be attending. So, that night, we (two friends and myself), decided to rent a car, book a hotel, and drive the ~1100 miles to get there in time! The trip took about 20 hours and took us through 4 states (MI, OH, PA, and NY). When we arrived at the hotel, we had 4 hours of sleep, before heading to the expo. Once arriving there, we were among the first few hundreds to enter the expo and have stuff autographed by them - it was amazing! After meeting them we went on with the exhibition itself. Then, almost immediately afterwards, we hit the road and spent another 20 hours going back.

Teach, Learn, Share

A thing that has influenced my life a great deal is the perception of and between human beings; more specifically, one's image and self-presentation.
Why do we act the way we do? And why does if differ whether it's friends, co-workers, or family?
Besides this there's also the ongoing issue regarding stereotyping, prejudices and xenophobia. Why is it that we have an idea of how people are, if we haven't even met them yet? And how is it that it's becoming such a big problem in certain countries, that some governments are talking about expelling these people?
That's some of things I'd be able to put into perspective, if you come Couching at my place. Besides this I'd also love to teach you how to speak Danish - both the good and the bad linguistics, haha.
I'd love to know more about who's couching at my place, their personality and culture in particular; anything from personal traits, beliefs and value, to cultural heritage and history.
