About Me
Multicultural woman, artist and anthropologist---
I've never known life without traveling. I grew up living on three different continents and shortly after I finished my undergraduate degree, I moved to Argentina as an independent researcher/dance anthropologist (though I have yet to further my studies). I'm fascinated by cultures, particularly those transcending national borders, especially through a movement lens (global dance forms). The more I travel, the more I realize we are all more alike than we think, so here's to a life of traveling, sharing with international communities, and giving back in every way possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Artistic pursuits, as well as freelance research, are definitely low-income, risky, solitary roads (though flooded with passion!). I live for and because of passion, my own and others', but this has never happened without the immense (and mostly unexpected) generosity of others. Traveling, dancing, researching, writing, and improvising life internationally would not be possible for me without the help of international communities like Couchsurfing--as I imagine is most people's case in this virtual-made-physical community!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Every traveling experience has been life-altering for me, but I remember my trip to Bamako, Mali very vividly. I spent a week in a village just outside the capital, learning some basic Bambara to get around (as my French was not very useful, contrary to what I had imagined). We showered with a bucket of water we sought from the well ourselves, heard local stories, attended a local wedding--which was not at all the joyful experience weddings symbolize in the global north--observed and participated with (predominantly) women dancing and singing spontaneously (around dinner, on the bus, while drinking tea, etc.)... Seeing the tension this village lived in--pure joy and simplicity paralleling strenuous quotidian routines--made it an honor to be accepted into the community (even being renamed Wassa--meaning joy of heart).
