About Me

UPDATE - Sadly, I can't accept any guests for the following few months, as I've had to move out of my old place. As soon as I finish organising/ decorating/ furbishing the new one and once I make sure I have enough room for guests, I'll post here.

I always knew that there would come a day when I could no longer avoid filling out the dreaded "about me" section. Truth be told, I do not like to describe myself - I do not know how I would even start and I hate praising myself - so I'm going to hope that this proof of honesty does the trick. I suppose one might say that I am in the process of discovering who I am. Travel helps. Which brings us to...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"I love travelling and meeting new people." Oh well, who doesn't?
I shall spare you from reading another (well-written) account of the usual couch-surfer(or what I found to be the norm around here) - a person who just can't get enough of meeting new people and making friends and having so much fun they do no remember it the next morning.

Well, I'm not really like that. Meeting new people is scary. Travelling is scary. Couchsurfing is also rather scary. Which is precisely why I want to try. See, when I wrote that I was in a sort of "process" of figuring out who I am, that sadly involves constantly getting out of my comfort zone. As a shy person, each day is a challenge anyways - but I've decided to take it to the next step.

Still new around here, figuring my way as I go ^^

Interests

Currently fascinated by Linguistics and Psychology. Still madly in love with literature and foreign movies. Can't survive a day without music. Casually (day)dreaming about travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hah I could write about this aaaaall day long.
Since I'm currently majoring in English and Swedish literature, lately I've found myself reading almost exclusively from this area, which is a bit of a shame because there are so many great books out there - though not many compare to Woolf, Wilde, Strindberg or Stig Dagerman.
To this day, my favourite author remains Steinbeck, mostly for writing the book that affected me most as a child. Marquez and Dostoyevsky also rank in my top 10.
In the past, I've really enjoyed philosophy especially the work of Sartre (existentialism on the whole, really), Camus, but also a rather unknown Romanian philosopher, Cioran. On a "lighter" note, I always liked thrillers or mystery novels such as Agatha Christie's or Thomas Harris'.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I could say that I'm currently planning the most amazing thing I'll ever do... but uptil now, living on my own in the Czech Republic for 2 weeks (I was attending a summer course) ranks as the greatest.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all, thanks for reading. Second, as I said, I do not like to praise myself as being an utterly amazing person - but if you've decided to trust me and I've decided to offer my trust back, you have found a reliable and friendly person that will do her best to spread joy, share nice memories and impart her (albeit very limited) wisdom with you :)
