About Me

Music lover, restless traveler, hopeless dreamer, greedy reader.
I would describe myself as "always on the move"... I am definitely a curious one, who always look forward to next big exciting experience, ready to leave and tick a newly discovered spot on the map.
My ambitions are various and mainly driven by a striking passion for music in many forms: trained as a singer, I have discovered the world of electronic music and DJing while graduating for my Master in Popular Music at Goldsmiths University of London. Also, I started digging deeper and deeper into the subject as I discovered how few females are active (and appreciated) in that industry, so from passion it became activism.
I know that when I will eventually go back to my motherland, Italy, my mission will be to create a network to empower female music producers, engineers and DJs. So now, I am in the middle of the process of learning more about that and become a better producer myself!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will soon start a trip on the road in Europe, West to East. The idea behind it is getting to know people, culture, traditions in my continent, in an attempt to know myself better as well. Adventure and improvisation will be the frame! The support of the couchsurfing community will be vital :)

Interests

Music: I currently work as a Vocal Coach and have previously studied MMus Popular Music at Goldsmiths University. I also work as a DJ for events and for Beatz and Bass UK Radio (the party side of me), and produce original electronic music (that's my nerd side!). I have launched a solo project as singer and producer which is my main focus at the moment: Escence. I also play the guitar when I hang out with friends :)

Fitness: my biggest passion after music! I work part time in a gym, and assist personal trainer and fitness instructor. I do not have a qualification as PT yet, but I am working on it! I do: weight lifting, cardio training (circuits, functional fitness, Insanity, legs bums and tums). I like pushing my friends to come to the gym so I can train hem; there should be something about teaching...

Cooking: although I am not the greatest chef (that's my mum of course), I love cooking and have been always praised by my family and friends, especially my foreign friends (I'm Italian after all, what did you expect!). I have a secret passion for baking bread, cookies, cakes and could spend days in the kitchen without realising it. More guilty pleasures: creating extravagant appetiser and themed buffets.

Volunteering: it's definitely something I've done, I am passionate about, and will do more in my life. I've always had a call to action in my ears, like: if you embrace a social cause or think that something is wrong in the world, you ought to do something about it! So, from Scouts and immigrants centres to building houses along with the young people in Bujumbura (Africa), I know even a little (free) action can be massively valuable!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love Aretha Franklin, Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, Pink and Whitney Houston (super classic big amazing incredible voices that inspired me as a singer!), but my music producer ear is irremediably attracted by PC Music, FKA Twigs, Peaches, Chicks on Speed and a lot of badass underground female producers!

Movies: it used to be Fight Club, but I'm much more into history films at the moment! Plus, I am generally obsessed with South America, so I'll pick The House Of The Spirits.

Books: so many. Let's choose though: Coelho, Eleven Minutes; Diamant, The Red Tent; Allende, Paula; Guevara, The Motorcycle Diaries.
