About Me

Hello world!!!

Originally from Chile, but after more than a year living in London I´m experiencing the adventure of my life... I´ve always loved travelling but because of work routine/schedule this is the first time that I can do it without any other limitation but the budget.

I´m born and raised in Santiago, but have travelled a lot through the North & South of its more than 4.000 kms, and also to other countries of South America many times. I´ve lived all my life in Santiago so let me know if you have any question about it.

I lived in London 10 years ago, and in 2014 I came back to study a Master of Laws. I finished my studies a couple of months ago and since the begining of February I´m moving around Europe (and Morocco) before going back to Chile. The itinerary is flexible, and it depends a lot on the weather, the people i meet, how much i like the place, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I´m couchsurfing mainly for 2 reasons: getting to meet new people and receiving their support.

I´m super friendly and I really love travelling and getting to know the places where I go in the local way... 12 countries in 12 days is not my type of trip, but a week in a city, living as a local!

Also, I managed with great effort to pay for my stay in London (we all know how expensive that city can be), thus I have a limited budget for the rest of the trip, and being able to stay with friendly locals will help me a lot to achieve my goal: visit all the countries/cities I want to.

When I go back to Chile (and get a place to live) I'll be more than happy to receive guests or meet people who wants to know Santiago with a friendly local.

Interests

When travelling, I love going to museums to learn about history and culture; also doing walking tours through the cities specially if they are focused in discovering places out of the touristic path, the hidden local gems. I love architecture, exploring neighbourhoods, streets, etc. But what I´m really interested in is getting to know locals, their way of living, beliefs, food & drinks, opinions about their cities and about the world... sharing experiences & opinions is an amazing way of enriching yourself!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music from Jorge Drexler (Uruguay), Toquinho & other masters of Bossa Nova (Brazil), many Chilean musicians (Violeta, Víctor Jara, Los Tres, Inti llimani, Los Jaivas, Gepe, Chico Trujillo), Kevin Johansen (Argentina), Buena Vista Social Club (Cuba), to U2, Simply Red, Pink Floyd, Goran Bregovic, Joan Manuel Serrat, Blur, Oasis, Coldplay, Killers, Joy Division, Bowie, Queen, Daft Punk... If you can sing it and dance it it´s my type of music.

Also i love music festivals and concerts.

I love the magical realism movement from South America. Gabriel García Márquez and Isabel Allende... their books are my favourites.

I love and enjoy films a lot... my favourite (the guilty pleasure) Star Wars hahahaha, but really I love a bit of everything!!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

3 weeks trip in 2008 to Eastern Island by myself... I met such amazing people and made lots of friends, got to know about this magical and misterious Island, its ancient history and culture, and how they struggle to maintaing both until today. I had my diving baptism: Just AMAZING!
Glastonbury... OMG!!! I went with 8 friends, we camped and party 4 nights, and it was absolutely awesome!!!
Hot air balloon flight in Capadoccia by sunrise... so touching, and only comparable with riding camels at sunrise too but in the Sahara desert, or sunrise in the Tatio´s Geyzers in San Pedro de Atacama, or in Machu Picchu... apparently, I have something with sunrises!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I´m native in Spanish and fully fluent in English, so I can help with both languages. I know a lot about Chile and some other countries of South America and the Caribbean, so I can also help in planning a trip to those destinations. I cannot deny that I´m a lawyer and although it´s work, I love talking about copyright and authors´ rights protection.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I´m a very modern, extrovertive and open minded person so definitely I can share opinions on many topics! I love cooking though not following receipes, just trying a bit of this and another bit of that, improvising and creating, following just the flavours you feel in your mouth and the smells... we can share that, obviously with a bottle of wine and talking about trips, countries, cultures, nature, in order to plan the next adventure!
