About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life's too short to be sitting around. Go travel. Learn about a new culture. Be open-minded.

ABOUT ME

Traveling and meeting new people is what I live for. Learning about new cultures is a necessity in life and couchsurfing is just one way to make that happen for me!

Hello there future host/surfer!!

This is probably one of the hardest sections to write. Description of yourself is not a forte of mine haha

Anyhow, here's about me: I was born and grew up on an island called Bermuda. Maybe you've heard of a little thing called "the bermuda triangle".. well yup!, that's one of the 3 points of that triangle. With about 65,000 inhabitants, many diverse cultures and people from all over the world, clear like "see-your-toes-in-the-water" type of ocean, playing squash in primary school, swimming and competing in triathlons, and living in absolute paradise was simply swell for a childhood.

From Bermuda I moved to Asheville, North Carolina, USA. Another hidden gem of this world in my opinion. Asheville is home to many microbreweries and named beer city of the USA and also home to many free-spirited hippies. Asheville is truly a unique town that I had the privilege of living in. It is nestled in the blue ridge mountains in which I learned to love hiking the mountainsides and absorb myself in the quietness of nature. Go visit. You won't regret it!

Once done with high school, it was on to university in Boone, NC - also a mountain town that I was able to explore many trails. Hiking, waterfalls, swimming holes, climbing, kayaking, slacklining are just a few activities that exist in Boone. I love that town!

In February I finished up my Erasmus (exchange) semester in Konstanz, Germany. I met many amazing people from ALL OVER THE WORLD. I had many new experiences and was able to travel a ton!.. I hit up Berlin, hitchhiked from Copenhagen, Denmark to Bergen, Norway in October. In December, I traveled to Prague, Budapest, and Vienna.

March and April were spent traveling all over Europe. Western Europe: Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels-Paris-Toulouse-Barcelona-Valencia-Madrid-Montpellier-Nice-Florence-Venice and then hitchhiking through the Balkans with a friend: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia and then one last stop in Turkey: Istanbul and Bursa.

I love to travel, eat good food, bake/cook meals with people, learn about other people's way of life, hiking to the tops of mountains, star gazing when you have no city light in sight, strolling around towns and cities, and spending an evening around a bonfire with close friends, and much much more...

PHILOSOPHY

LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST. Life is too short to sit and do nothing. It's better to go out in to the world, learn something new about someone or even learn better about yourself, and continue doing that until you are content with a well lived-out life. Living life is a continuing book. Each chapter of your life brings new experiences, and new people in your life. It's important to make each chapter of your life what you want it to be!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I moved to Berlin in June 2014 and am still settling in. Hopefully soon I'll have the opportunity to be able to host y'all!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

2 nights in Bergen, Norway :) Wonderful time seeing the fish market and taking the tram up the mountain to the overlook of Bergen.

All through my travels through Spain, Paris, and the Balkans!! Incredible people that I met through couch surfing - people I meet and hang out for like 1-2 days become sad goodbye's at the end.

Interests

Hiking. Mountains. Swimming. Eating good German/Swiss chocolate. Underwaterrugby. Hanging out at coffee shops. Traveling. Chacos. Wandering around cities and finding non-touristic, more local sides of towns. Bonfires, beer, and friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Into The Wild. Despicable Me. Django. Any movie really.. but only to watch it one time.
Music: Bon Iver. Radical Face. The Lumineers. Mumford & Sons. The Head and the Heart. The Civil Wars. The Avett Brothers. Imagine Dragons.
Books: The Kite Runner. Hunger Games. Harry Potter series - (my childhood!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked 16 miles up to Mt. Mitchell - 6,684 ft - the highest mountain east of the Mississippi River

Stuck my arm up a cow's ass. I was enrolled in an animal science class in high school and the cow was pregnant. I could feel the calf inside the cow. Definitely an unreal experience to be able to feel the growing calf inside :)

Valencia - Fallas Festival: absolutely incredible experience!

Norway - learned how to surf

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Swimming if ya can't already ;)
Learn: Guitar has always been high up on my list! I tried the ukulele-but failed :(
Share: I would love to cook together. I like to think that cooking brings out the best in us. It's a way to bond and then share a wonderful meal together.
