ABOUT ME

I'm born in 1962 in a small village on the foot of the Swiss Alps. When I was 25 I moved to the flat Netherlands where I live in Eindhoven since. I'm a positive minded, open and active person who loves a good conversation and sharing activities. At the moment I'm working for the local government as policymaker in the social field (poverty, homelessness, drugs-/alcoholadiction). I'm living in a typical Dutch house (red bricks, in a row, with a small garden in front and in the back). It's build in the 30s and renovated 10 years ago. It's about 15 minutes by bike or bus from the citycenter (busstop 3 minutes walk) with shops, nice pub's, musea and the hip design-district of StrijpS. On a walkingdistance there is a nice forest area.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Tipped about couchsurfing in 2013 by a friend as I was searching for a nice place to stay in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. I passed a great time there with a local family in one of the gerdistricts. A unique experience!

Interests

I love travelling, getting known other cultures, nature and specially mountains, photography, writing, hiking, biking, volleyball, swimming, reading, cooking (and eating), yoga/meditation. I'm interested in social and environmental issues.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A 3 months trip through Monoglia (2013), living with locals, visiting the rendeernomads in the very North and the Kazak eaglehunters in the west of Mongolia.

volunteering in Nepal for 1/2 year (2007), with a local cooperative that is offering micro finance among other activities, living with a Nepali family in Pokhara. In this periode I joined twice a longstay meditation course in a Tibetan monastery and of course did a trekking. GREAT TIME! GREAT EXPERIENCE!
