About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seeing the world

ABOUT ME

I am currently taking a year (or two) out of education before starting my degree in environmental engineering and am currently working as an Au pair in the warm and sunny Finland! In my time off I like to travel and get out, away from the computer and see the world.

I like to think that I am an easy going person and usually take things as they come. My friends (those that know me well) would probably describe me as a fun, caring and charismatic person, however I like to think that I can also be insightful.

I have a passion for discovering new things and enjoy going into the unknown, especially learning from mine and others experiences.

Music is a big part of my life and I will often have music playing in the background, all day everyday. I have been playing guitar for a good couple of years now and I absolutely love taking my acoustic guitar with me to the beach or wherever and playing whenever I get the chance (best times are around the campfire in my garden in Germany with a sun-bathed view of the Alps).

I love nature. I gain so much from just walking in nature, taking in the sights and living, breathing. I do also like cities, but if I had a choice of where to live then it would definitely be the countryside. I grew up climbing trees, going for walks in the woods and mountains and going skiing in the winters, this is where my heart lies.

PHILOSOPHY

The greater regret lies in omission than in commission!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

-Surfing: I am new to this community and the whole couch surfing culture and hope that this won't make it too difficult for me to find a host.

- Hosting: At the moment I can't host as I am living with a family in Finland, however when I have settled down in Germany (Munich) then I will be able to host- Oktoberfest anyone?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is completely new to me, but I am looking forward to the many experiences that I will have within this community!

- I hope that me being new to this doesn't make it impossible for me to find a host, I accept that my situation isn't ideal and that people generally prefer to host people with a bit of a couchsurfing history, but you can get in touch with my host family if you want a reference or I would be happy to arrange a video call if that would be of any help.

Interests

Anything that involves walking/ hiking in new places, or re-visiting old walks.

Travelling, meeting new people, learning about other culture, seeing the world and gaining perspective.

Music: I love music, listening to it, making it, playing with other people, I play the guitar and am learning to play the harp and gemshorn.

Norse Mythology, I don't know why, but for some reason I am fascinated by Norse Mythology and general life in this period.

Photography: (Not tourist point and shoot) I like to give my pictures some thought before taking them, looking for finer details and capturing a moment or place of significance to me. I have a lot to learn in this field, but for me it is more about the enjoyment of the discovery than the final outcome that is of significance to me.

Film:I have studied film for 2 years and thoroughly enjoyed this, I love making and watching films and am always interested in watching films made by other cultures than my own!

Herbal teas: I love drinking herbal tea! I drink it every day and will continue to drink them until one day the world runs out. I have even been known to take my herbal tea to metal bars and drink a nice hot cup at 2am (I'm not afraid to be different).

Others:
Nature, Learning Languages, Jiu jitsu, Model United Nations, Digital art, Board games, the middle ages in general... and many more!

Oh yeah, knitting Chainmaille!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In this short time that I have been on the planet I have managed to see the Northern lights, which for me, coming from Germany/England was a new and very wonderful experience... I look forward to experiencing more amazing things in the future though!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very keen on learning anything that a host has to offer, from the history of the place in which I'm staying to juggling to how to eat whilst hanging upside down from a tree (okay maybe not the last one so much, but if you can teach me, then I'll give it a go!)

I have been playing guitar for over 7 years now (mainly acoustic, but also some electric) so if there's one lying around then I'd be happy to teach... I can also kint chainmaille, so if anyone has some spare jump rings and pliers lying around then we can make some chainmaille (maybe not a full suit though, that might take too long!)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Estonia, France, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Finland, Germany, United Kingdom
