Overview
About Me
I grew up in Varese, in northern Italy, near to the border with Switzerland. It's quite a posh town, but the surroundings are amazing: green mountains, lakes and the Alps in the background...
Then I moved to Pavia, a medieval town in the south of Milan, for the university. There I stayed in a university college called Collegio Ghislieri (loved it!), where I met some of the people that you can see among my CS friends.
Then I spent one year in Utrecht (NL) as an exchange student. It was my first long stay abroad and it was a very cool experience.
Then I moved to Lyon, where I did PhD. I loved Lyon. It's a very nice place. Now I live in Barcelona. Come and visit me!
I would say I am a friendly, easygoing, relaxed and open minded guy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's an excellent way of meeting a lot of interesting people.
In the beginning I thought it was just a hosting-surfing thing, but then I started going to events. Now I go pretty often in Lyon and I also organised some hiking trips. Events are just great because they allow you to live the CS state of mind even without traveling.
Interests
I love traveling, cycling and the combination of the two: bycicle touring! So far I've had a few experiences (Danube, Montenegro, Lyon-Varese, Spain&Portugal, Chile) and I'm really looking forward to my next journey. The dream is Trieste-Istanbul through the Balkans...
I really like languages, but actually I only speak easy languages... The two foreign languages other than English that I speak (French and Spanish) are romance languages, as Italian... One day, I'd like to give a try to a non indo-european language! But maybe I'll be lazy and learn some Portuguese...
What else? Oh, I'm a huuuge geography nerd... And I am really interested in geopolitics. In particular I read a lot of stuff about the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Middle East and South America.

Teach: Feynman's path integral formalism. No, don't worry, I'm just kidding... :) Some Italian, I'd say.
