Traveling and making good friends all over the world has been core to who I am. I'm a Berlin-based writer, filmmaker, humanitarian aid worker, and sometimes musician.

I've lived in some beautiful and tough places, and done a lot of off road journeys where few people go, so I can give you advice on how to find what you're looking for in places as wide-ranging as my hometowns of New York and Cincinnati, in the United States; my second home Sarajevo, Bosnia; and other cities I'm very close to like Berlin, Belgrade, Prague, Kiev, Nairobi, Mogadishu, Kabul, and so on.

Hosting/ guesting, I'm a quiet writer, reader, coffee drinker who is very flexible socially, veggie/vegan-friendly, queer-friendly, and welcoming to all types of people from liberal to conservative; most people think I'm like a young-living professor. Sometimes a great drink, make good food, mountain hiking, or dancing. I can keep everything clean, warm, friendly, and also can be sure not to cross your private space.

Great way to meet people you don't normally meet, right? Sometimes I trade music, guitar lessons, English, or writing lessons. Travel a lot for work, but also because my friends are spread out in different cities.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love all the Michel Gondry, Woody Allen, Wes Anderson films, but also the darker classics of Coppola, Scorcese, Godard, Resnais, and much more. As for music, I'm a musician and sometimes concert producer, so I like all kinds. I perform acoustic guitar/vox of psychadelic folk and rock, as well as some Middle Eastern. But otherwise, I love all the cool stuff from rock, alternative rock, grunge, metal, punk, and sometimes triphop or trance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ten years on the road from Africa to West Asia to Europe. That included hiking 20 km up the coast of remote Somalia in a hunt for a crashed Second World War submarine and war plane, hiking the coast of Lake Ohrid in Macedonia, falling in love in Sudan, Bosnia, and Palestine, and much more.
