Overview
About Me
I like dogs more than cats. I prefer spending the night climbing a mountain to watch the sunrise, rather than go partying in a club. I grew up in Austria, but last year I moved to the United States (no, I'm not a Trump fan) and started studying International Development studies. I spent 1,5 months in Lebanon at the Syrian border volunteering for a refugee aid project. I spent the last year in South America studying abroad and traveling around. I think getting out of your comfort zone is important to stay open minded. Also I think every life is a story and I really love to hear about what people are excited about. And to learn about new cultures and countries.
Interests
I love exploring new places and taking pictures (you can check out some of my photography on instagram: @danielhasel). Also I really enjoy sports like volleyball, soccer, rock climbing and slacklining. But I also really like pizza. My favorite thing to do is probably just going on spontaneous mountain adventures with friends or hitchhiking to new countries. Or playing card games and trying to learn new magic card tricks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking from Austria to Belgium in less than a day.
Watching the sunrise on the highest mountain of Lebanon.
Hiking in Patagonia.
Hitchhiking from Germany to Estonia and losing my passport and papers.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd like to learn and share skills in photography, slacklining, and any languages. Also I am still a really bad ukulele beginner and could use some tips on that haha.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A magic card trick (with a 92% success rate). Also if you have a dog, I could pet your dog (and tell him that he is a good boy). I wish I could say I could cook you some really good traditional Austrian pastry - but unfortunately I am really bad at cooking :(
