ABOUT ME

I'm Dan, 29, from the UK. I've lived in London, Paris and Sydney. Looking for cool local hosts to make new friendship connections with, that can make my experience authentic and give me amazing memories to take away with me.

Been told I'm a fantastic guest, I like to keep wherever I am clean and tidy, and I'm more than aware of when it's best to be quiet - I do like a good night's sleep... not a party boy by any means, but I do enjoy a drink in nice bars/restaurants.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm always looking to make new friends, I find that meeting and hanging out with locals is much more fun than hanging with other travellers, it gives you a much richer impression of a place! I'd love to take part in anything that enhances my experience, although I draw the line at life threatening activities... unless they involve a stiff drink at the end haha!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed round the USA in 2014 and met many new amazing people (and one or two dodgy ones!). I found it an amazing way of experiencing the reality of a place, rather than staying within the tourist "bubble"

Interests

Film and theatre are my passions, I'm a huge geek and Oscar season is like second Christmas! I don't go to clubs, I prefer nice bars and restaurants where you can actually talk to people. I try and exercise as much as I can, I've run two half marathons, one in London and one in Sydney, and I'm never happier than when I'm scuba diving!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm currently reading Shantaram, after finishing Chanel: An Intimate Life. I'm quite eclectic when it comes to reading.

Movies, I love everything from old Hollywood to 2000s comedies to horror. Ask me which actors have won Oscars and ill probably be able to tell you in which year and for which film. And I can't believe I just admitted that.

Music I like musical theatre, pop, R&B, the usual

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on a TV show when I was 19 advising other teens on typical young issues. I lived in Paris for 7 months when I was 21 working as a language assistant in a high school. I once took a peddle boat out in Amsterdam with friends when I was 25 and spent the entire journey playing the Titanic theme tune on my iPhone - it felt apt at the time. And my 3 month trip around the USA - 19 cities in 11 weeks. The best 3 months of my life! Oh, and I once played a security guard in a rap video... I'll explain it to you over a drink haha!
