Hey there, I'm Dan.

Currently hitchhiking from Canada to Chile in order to meet more wonderful people, listen to their stories and find a warm place to start a new life at.

Within the last few years I hitchhiked around 55.000 kilometers, hosted around 50 live shows as a speaker, wrote 2 books and I'm finally gonna hit the road again in June 2023 to find out, what awaits me at the end of my journey.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the diversity. I've made plenty of new friends on this platform and they all had one thing in common. They were all good hearted people. Which is in my opinion one of the most important things in this world anyway. Trust and the will to help others. I'm looking forward to listen to your stories, get to know you and get a brief glimpse at your life.

Interests

I do love basically all kind of activities, especially the ones I haven't tried yet.
Anyway, I guess I should name a few things. I enjoy longboarding, love both hiking and hitchhiking, both nonsense and intellectual conversation, food, weird hobbies, useless talents, special deals at supermarkets, coffee, card magic, dinosaurs ... seriously... I enjoy way too many things. I might not be a museum person, but still, I spent days in museums laughing my ass off before.
Just let me know what you love to spend your time with and I'd gladly give it a shot.
But please, don't make me listen to Nicki Minaj. If you do so, I'm gonna hit you with the German equivalent Max Giesinger. Fair warning.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : Similar to my interests in general I enjoy listening to all different kind of music. I do also carry a portable speaker around - just to give you an idea about how important music is to me. Favorite song? Check out "Rainbow kitten surprise - first class"
Books : Unfortunately I haven't read nearly as much as I would like to. I love writing though. So far I've published 2 books, one about my former travels and a fictional novel. There's definitely gonna be more books in the future and who knows. Your story might actually be a part of it.
Movies : I love movies. If I'd had to choose a favorite, I would go with 'Prestige'. But seriously, there is way to many awesome movies. In case you re into cinemas: I'm absolutely down to catch up with some recent releases.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was able to raise money while talking about my former travels on stage. This way, I was able to finance a new school in Sambia, now led by Ivor, a man I once couchsurfed with.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good time. Obviously plenty of stories if you wanna listen to them but mainly the promise, that I'm requesting people not for the sake of a free place to sleep, but as a chance to meet likeminded people. Also I might own a beach bar one day and you'd definitely get some free drinks.
