About Me

I'm a British backpacker on a working holiday visa in Australia. I spent the first 5months of my time in Australia working in Outback QLD. Now I've made it down the East Coast to visit both Melbourne and Sydney.

Although this sounds like a 'typical backpacker' journey, it really hasn't been. I have my own car so I've been driving down, stopping at many points of interest on the way, however, these have been points of interest such as Natural Bridge & Mt Warning, not all the cheap backpacker bars with a bag of goon!

I'm down to earth, fun loving and sociable. One day I'll settle down and use my degree to get a 'real job' but for the time being I'm just enjoying myself and living my life to its fullest!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of the best things about travelling is meeting new people. Even better when those new people are locals and can help out giving you local advice on where is best to visit and what to see that is off the beaten track,

Couchsurfing is a great way to do just this. Not only are you staying in a local's home, and experiencing a new culture (even if some people might argue that Australian culture isn't that much different to English) I'd hope they would also either join me in exploring the area or at the very least give me ideas on where to go that will avoid the crowds.

Interests

Obviously I love travelling and seeing the world otherwise I wouldn't be here!

I've spent 3 winter seasons working in the French Alps and absolutely love snow sports, I'm mainly a skier but slowly moving over to the dark side...

While in Townsville, I got my Open Water Diver certification, and even had chance to dive the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas. And while I'm still not the biggest fan of water, it was such an amazing experience.

I just have a real passion for the outdoors, trying to be environmentally friendly, and getting out and about and living my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

My absolute favourite band would have to be Foo Fighters. Although, I will listen to pretty much any type of music, from modern day pop to old school classic rock as well as the odd musical in there too.

As for books, I really enjoy the Harry Potter series - both the books and the films. I like a lot of different books genres, especially crime thrillers but also a good one for crying - my sister's keeper, the time traveller's wife etc. I've just finished reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, so I plan on finding the next in the series shortly.

The same goes for films, you can't beat a good girly film with ice cream and chocolate, but I also enjoy a good action film.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Packed my life up and moved to the other side of the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

Being from the UK I've obviously spent a lot of time in Europe so I can teach you many thing about France, Spain, Switzerland, the UK... I have a basic grasp of Spanish and German and can speak conversational French which I'd be happy to teach! I'm always willing to learn more though, and I'd love to learn more languages.

I also practice yoga when I get the chance so we could share tips on that too.

What I Can Share with Hosts
