About Me
My name is Danielle, and I am originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I love to laugh, and I always have a smile on my face. I love to talk, and I've been playing ice hockey since I was 3 years old. I am always excited to try new things, and I love to be spontaneous. I also absolutely love to travel! This past year, 2015, has been so exciting for me and I cannot wait to see what 2016 brings. I graduated from University in the USA with a degree in Psychology, I rode a bike 6800km (4260 miles) across the USA for cancer awareness, and I moved to Germany on a whim to play professional Ice Hockey (I can't speak a word of German, but I'm learning!). I just love to be different. Life is too short to not do what you love, and we are given so many opportunities to do such great things. I believe that if I do not take chances, or live out my dreams, I am doing myself a disservice.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I am recently out of college, I haven't established my career yet. This can lead to a lot of money problems when my dream is to travel the world... Couchsurfing is definitely something that can help aid my travels. But more importantly, I am so excited to meet people from around the world. I absolutely love learning how other countries/cities are so different from my own. You can drive 3 hours and be in a completely different world. I absolutely love it. I have used Airbnb a lot for that reason. It's much more personal when you can experience a city from someone's home. However, the downside of Airbnb is that the host is usually never there, and you cannot interact with them a lot (it also can get very expensive when you are going from city to city!). Couchsurfing gives you the ultimate personal experience with a new place. It also makes me so happy seeing someone's eyes light up with excitement when they talk about where they live, or the country their from. It makes me want to learn as much about their home as I can, so I can fall in love with it the same way. I think that is the most important thing about traveling. Trying to experience a new place and enjoy it as if it was your own!
