About Me

I love meeting new people and sharing stories. I'm from Austin, Texas, but more recently lived in Seattle, Washington for 5 years, and then lived and taught in Chile for 2 years. I'm currently traveling with my Chilean partner, Claudio, on an extended Eurotrip.

We are both English language teachers who love traveling, meeting new people, cultural exchange, and literature. Claudio is from Chile and loves cycling, running, and making things with his hands; he's particularly handy at carpentry and painting. I'm from the USA and love theatre, film, dance, music, and yoga; I enjoy writing, working with children, and admin tasks. We both love learning new things!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My boyfriend and I are exploring Europe together for a few months and want to meet and share with locals in the countries we visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I enjoy most genres, but especially soul/funk, classic rock, jazz, blues, and latino grooves. I love small concerts and low-key music jams.

Books - I'm open to reading many genres, but especially enjoy historical fiction, magical realism, poetry, memoirs, and literary journalism. Recent books I enjoyed include: John Steinbeck's "East of Eden," Susan Miller's "The Song of Achilles", Neil Gaiman's short story collections, and Jenny Lawson's "Furiously Happy."

Movies - drama/comedy, but especially historical period dramas, documentaries, and classic movies and musicals. I really love the old films "Singing in the Rain" and "An American in Paris." Usually open to watching any genre, minus horror films.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - English language, a bit of dance and theatre, and differences in regional culture in the US
Learn - more about daily life in different cultures, languages, and the local artistic scenes. If I had more time, I would love to take more Afro and Latino based dance and/or percussion classes.
Share - practicing conversational Spanish and English, cooking, and storytelling

What I Can Share with Hosts

- A warm and easygoing personality
- A deep curiousity in learning about others - their culture and personal stories
- Open and responsive communication style with an interest in being tidy, organized, and respectful towards others' spaces
