About Me

Life is too short to stay in one place for too long; too short to do anything half-ass; too short to live with regrets; and too short for clichés (or is it? ).

Hello! I’m Danielle, 27, Canadian, but have been living in Edinburgh, Scotland this past year doing my masters degree. I’m finishing up my dissertation now but have returned to Italy to enjoy some sun and escape the Scottish “summer.”

I love learning languages (I am fluent in Spanish) and Italian is my next goal, although it’s coming along slowly lol. My favourite things about travelling are meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and opening my mind to different perspectives and ways of life. Also, I’ve recently discovered that I am no longer a huge fan of big cities and prefer incorporating more of nature into my travels and daily life. I love a hike or even just walking in nature!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have travelled solo quite a bit and what I’ve noticed is that, while I love my time alone and am content by myself, travelling can be so much more fulfilling when there is someone to share it with. Whatever that “sharing” looks like, the most important thing for me is to make more connections during my travels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Mexico during the pandemic 😬 (best decision I’ve ever made)

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach English online, so I would love to help anyone with their English! Practice is important for learning anything, but especially languages as it helps us gain confidence as well. That said, I am hoping to learn Italian and I really need to practice! 😅 I think the best things to share are stories as they open our minds to different perspectives, experiences, and help us connect with other people (this is something I plan on studying in my masters haha). Why not share some stories over food while we practice languages and teach each other about our respective cultures!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I said, I can share my knowledge and experience teaching English. I can also help you with Spanish if that’s something you’re interested in (but I’m certainly no expert lol). I would be happy to help cook or clean if needed. Mostly, I can share myself haha —my time, interests, life experiences… stories!
