My name is Danielle Kovasckitz, and I've been married to my husband - Lucas - for three years. Since our marriage, Lucas and I have worked together in direct care within the foster care system. In our current job, we work for a week at a time looking after 8-10 children in our cottage on a campus in the mountains of North Carolina. At one point, we had ten kids in our care...from 10 months to 17 years of age. Never a dull moment to be sure.

Lucas received his BS in Sustainable Development from Appalachian State University in 2013, and we are both passionate about nature, community, and living a life of adventure. A couple of summers ago, Lucas and I traveled extensively in the US and spent three weeks apiece on two farms WWOOFing in Washington state. This is our first time traveling with couch surfing and we are excited for all the new people we will meet along our way!

We are planning on moving on from our job at the end of the year, to travel for around 6 months overseas. We have etched out time for two months in New Zealand, beginning early January. We would like to spend about half of our time enjoying the wilderness of New Zealand, and half working on farms and getting to know some of the people that call this land their home. From there we plan to travel Australia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, and India. We are keen to meet new people along the way, share meals, and discover new places together. Our best friend, Emily, will be traveling around the world with us as well and has done a fair amount of traveling/couch surfing herself.
