About Me

I'm a senior at Yale University majoring in psychology. My family and I have always loved to travel, and I have been fortunate enough to visit a variety of countries throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. I love adventure, whether that means exploring new cities, learning new skills, or jetting off into the wilderness to hike and camp for as long as my student schedule allows me. After graduation I plan to work in social justice in some capacity, probably at an NGO in the United States or abroad. Eventually I hope to become a filmmaker focusing in documentaries that address issues of social justice in order to raise awareness of the issues and effect change.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel, I want to get to know locals, meet new people, and have interesting conversations, rather than stay in some hotel that removes me from the culture of the place.

Interests

I love soccer, running, reading, and more recently, photography and filmmaking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - An eclectic mix of pretty much everything, from rap to jazz, classical to R&B, Latin to Punjabi. I particularly love Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Ed Sheeran, and Mumford and Sons.
Movies - I enjoy essentially every genre. I love inspirational sports movies (A League of Their Own, Remember the Titans, Rudy, McFarland USA, etc), documentaries (The Human Experience, Born Into Brothels, etc), happy movies, sad movies, Pixar animated films, and everything in between.
Books - I grew up on Harry Potter and the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I fell in love with Jeffrey Eugenides' Middlesex in high school and still consider it my favorite book. I've recently been reading a lot of memories (The Glass Castle, Wild, The Places In Between, Yes Please) and essays (Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, etc).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 14 I raised several thousand dollars to donate to pediatric cancer research before donating my hair and having my head shaved at a pediatric cancer fundraising walk.
In the fall of 2014 I raised more than $5,000 for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and ran the TCS New York City Marathon as part of Fred's Team.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn how to cook food from around the world.
