About Me

I am a 27 year old female from Milwaukee, WI. I work in recruitment and just recently started working from home. I will be traveling the United States over the next year and am looking to connect with people while I'm gone! I am a musician and a community organizer/activist. I love to cook and especially to share meals with others. I drink occasionally and do not smoke, but am not judgemental of anyone's personal choices/lifestyle. I am really looking to meet people and learn about the different happenings in cities across the US!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travelled Europe in College and was so lucky to have gotten to stay with/meet so many amazing people in my travels. I just got approved to work from home which basically means I can work anywhere that has wifi! That being said, I am about to start traveling the United States and am looking for cool people to chill with and to learn from. I am a community organizer/activist and a musician in Milwaukee and am interested in learning about organizing/ movement politics in other cities across the US. I want to experience life in other cities like I experience life in Milwaukee, and would love to alternatively host people once I move back to Milwaukee next year.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I founded an organization called the Step by Step Collective, along with a few other women in my community. We are an organization committed to social, racial, and economic justice with a particular focus on the intersectionality between race, class, and gender. Through our current initiative we are working to obtain a vacant public building to turn it into a drop-in center for single trans/cis women, families, and LGBTQ+ people who are struggling with homelessness in Milwaukee. We are working with the cooperative movement in Milwaukee to make this space a long-term hub for cooperative development in the city.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - music, singing, writing skills, resume development, interview skills, social media management, basic technical assistance for most software problems, community organizing tactics (canvassing, popular education, outreach, street logistics, facilitation, etc)

Learn - music, organizing/ community building skills, art/public art, food/cooking, especially if you live by a certain dietary restriction (IE: vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, grain-free, paleo, etc), and I really want to learn about other cities/communities within the US. The best way to do that, in my opinion, is to spend time with people who live in these places. Teach me! :)

Share - Food, a visit to Milwaukee once I get a stable place to live, clothing, music, service

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am willing to help with basic tasks, cook food, play music, volunteer in the community, attend events, and, when I'm back in Milwaukee, a house to stay at if you ever decide to visit the Brew City!
