About Me

New to Couchsurfers! I am adventurous, outgoing, sociable and open-minded, always eager to learn new things and explore different cultures. I have travelled parts of Africa, the Middle East, Europe and America, for short periods of time, however in my gap year, before going to study Comparative Literature and Culture at Uni, I have chosen to travel to Asia and Australia where I will be spending much longer exploring the beautiful countries. I am traveling with my boyfriend Dan. I am 18, Dan is 19 and we are from Bedford in the UK about 30 minutes on the train from London City.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am taking a gap year to travel Asia and Australasia with my boyfriend before I go back to university in the UK to study Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies - I will be learning about film/philosophy/literature/art and comparing them across different cultures in the world, so Couchsurfers is a great place to get a head start in learning a little bit about different cultures!

Also, as we are young students, we are on a very tight budget and would be grateful for any space you have to accommodate my boyfriend and I.

Interests

Aspiring writer. Culture including music, art, and food. I love animals, sports, learning new things and taking photos. My boyfriend also loves animals, taking photos, music, food & skate boarding. We both enjoy meeting new people, having a laugh and some drinks!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all sorts of music; jazz, hip hop, electronic, reggae, RnB, rock - most music with a good beat that makes me feel good or lyrics that I can connect with. I play the drums and my boyfriend used to play the guitar, we both very much have a passion for all sorts of music and love to go to gigs. Fav bands/artists - the Smashing Pumpkins, the Front Bottoms, Hiatus Kaiyote, Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, Tom Misch, Kaytranada, Majestic. I have watched too many movies in my lifetime to be able to pick out a few great ones, there’s just too many and I enjoy all genres. I am a former English Literature and Language student so I have read many books. Twisted fantasies are my biggest interest - like Angela Carters ‘The Bloody Chamber’, she puts a vulgar, feminist twist on childhood fantasies such as Snow White, it is revolting yet exciting to read. If you’re interested, read the Snow Child online which is a 2 paged short story from the book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did charity work in Mozambique for a month which included building a school for the locals, fitting water pumps for safe, fresh water for the locals and spending lots of time with the community and exploring new foods and cultures. It was an experience of a life time. Camping under the Southern Hemisphere constellations on a mountain in a sleeping bag after long days of trekking felt unreal.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn different languages and how to cook traditional dishes. I’d love to see and experience traditional, local lives in different cultures and to meet amazing people to share life stories with, to find new friends and to have a great laugh.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of interesting chats, I am happy to teach my own English language to anyone who would like to learn and I can also teach intermediate-level Spanish too. I studied Geography, Design and English literature and language in the UK for my A levels - I am particularly interested in Geography and English so I can teach you anything you would like to know about that.

I enjoy spending time with children and pets - I do babysitting back in the UK so if you have kids they will never be bored whilst I am living with you! Same with animals, they’ll be getting lots of attention from me:)

Happy to help with chores around the house of course, we will always respect your home, family and traditions and of course always clean up after ourselves.
