About Me

Hi! Oh...the "About Me" section, everybody's favorite! Where to start? I am a young professional and a traveler at heart. My husband and I have settled in Marquette, MI, one of our favorite places in the entire world! Between the close community and the many events from dogsledding, to ice fest, to beer fest, there is plenty to do to stay busy. The wilderness is just gorgeous here with endless miles of shoreline, trails, and rivers. Although sea kayaking, canoeing, and hiking/backpacking are at my core, I have been exploring mountain biking, rock climbing, cross country skiing, rowing, and sailing recently. I'm always up for an adventure and new experiences. Currently I work on a contract basis and often take chunks of time off between contracts to itch my travel bug. In fact, I'm currently planning a trek in the Himalayas this fall.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My husband and I have had the opportunity to travel quite a bit in the last few years. In college, I studied abroad in Luneburg, Germany. In a break from work, my husband and I spent a few months WOOFing in New Zealand. I also spent 6 weeks living in a family compound in Bali and teaching English at the local school. During all of these adventures we had opportunities to stay with locals and experience generous hospitality. It changes the whole experience and make it richer in connection and authenticity. We would love to offer the same in our own home and experience even more local culture when we pick up and travel again.
