About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel's greatest purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one - William Hazlitt. And I want to open mine...

ABOUT ME

How to start? I am descended from travellers, from whom I received my restless genes - all the way from the first immigrants to America to my father who is a pilot, and my mom's parents who live in a motorhome. I am a musician and an outdoors person, an animal lover and a bibliophile. I spend more time listening than talking, although I can go off on a few subjects... I am organized in some aspects and chaotic in others; I can plan a concert and yet not keep my bedroom clean. I love crossword puzzles, coffee, and cookies.

PHILOSOPHY

Dance like nobody's watching;
Love like you've never been hurt.
Sing like nobody's listening
Live like it's heaven on earth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am eager to meet new people by traveling, and to meet fellow travelers. I am happy to answer questions about outdoor pursuits in beautiful Park City and Utah (I can also answer some questions about indoor pursuits, but not extensively).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met with several couchsurfers in Salt Lake City, including some hosts, the hostee, and another who joined us for conversation (by all), dinner (provided by the hosts) and a hike to wonderful hot springs (guided by the hosts). It was an incredible first experience.

Interests

The great outdoors! Hiking, biking, camping, swimming, skiing (snow or water), horseback riding. Geology, ecology, wildlife, environmental policy, (sustainable) energy policy. Animals, great and small, from my two cats to horses (my first love). MUSIC! Whether playing (marimba, drums/percussion, piano, flute), or listening (classical, jazz, light rock, etc). Reading, reading, reading. History, art (to an extent...)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - romantic comedy, action, mystery/suspense.
Books - I love reading. I have more books than I have room for on my bookshelves. I read almost anything, from fantasy (I <3 Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings) to historical fiction (Jeff Shaara, anyone?) to mystery (Sherlock Holmes, Elizabeth Peters, Laurie King) to...whatever (Dave Barry).
Music - classical, soft rock (Bryan Adams, Richard Marx), other (Josh Groban), light rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the Iguazu falls. Swimming in a glacier lake in Canada. Seeing grizzly bears in Alaska. Watching lava pour into the ocean in Hawaii. Climbing up the mast of a 40m sailing boat. All pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn more languages, namely Spanish and Italian. And improve my German.

Countries I’ve Visited
