About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn to live while Im alive!

Working on learning and practicing as much as I can to become the best tattoo artist I can be!

ABOUT ME

I have been backpacking since i was 18. I would head out until my money would run out ( which happened more quickly in the days before i heard of couch surfing ) and would head home to see friends and family long enough to save another few thousand and head out again! At 23 i met julie in Nicaragua. She and i went on a crazy adventure down to panama, hitch hiked the west coast of the usa, road tripped in new Zealand for a year, traveled india, scandinavia, Europe, Canada and the northern united states and a couple summers ago, got married! We settled down into a lovely little apartment in brussels for a few years, then made our final move accross the globe to New Zealand.
Our beautiful baby was born in February of 2016 and since then we have not been hosting surfers. We will start again at some point though. Its important to repay some of our traveler karma!
We are always looking to meet new people and make new friends!

PHILOSOPHY

"You had best learn to live while you are alive"
"Leap forth into the great unknown. Don't cease to seek until it's shown!"
"As soon as youre born you start dieing, so you had might as well have a good time!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

CS has been an amazing thing throughout my recent travels! i have had a lot of fun with the people i have met through this site! Before CS i spent more money on accommodation, but had fewer fun encounters and made fewer travel friends..

We (julie and I) are currently interested in paying back our traveler / guest karma by hosting! We hope to be able to provide a bed and a good brussels experience for other backpackers like us! ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

a family in mexico city let my friend and i stay for two weeks! they helped us learn spanish, taught us how to cook mexican food and showed us around the city!
i could never hope for anything better!

I had a wonderful time in Oslo Norway as well with a great guy who hosted my girlfriend and I for a few days!

A CS meet and greet in Auckland was a lot of fun!

Interests

Deep dark jungles, street food, playing music, outdoor sports (archery, targa rock climbing, skiing, hiking etc..) cooking, eating, nature, trying new things, art, tattoos, outer space, shamanism and my lovely wife! (and our lovely baby!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked off-trail with a friend through some of Thailand's deepest jungle. Got lost there for a while, almost got bit by a really big cobra, sang with the gibbons, passed through a canyon filled with thousands of butterflies. Saw some of the world's most endangered wildlife, including a HUGE wild bull elephant (which we got much closer to than we should have!) and spent the rest day jumping off of a giant waterfall!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like art, music and cooking. Im currently teaching myself the mandolin and traditional tattooing. I would love to try to play some music with other musicians, so if you travel with an instrument keep it in mind! I created a sport with a friend of mine a few years ago and am always looking for new people to play with ;)
If nothing else, just cooking s big dinner and sharing stories would be wonderful!

What I Can Share with Hosts

What i like doing is cooking a big dinner and sitting down to eat, drink and talk. Doesn't matter if I'm a guest or a host, i will do this for you :)
If a host is seeking some travel advice, a good story or a deep conversation on the furthest mysteries of the universe, i would be happy to oblige!
