CURRENT MISSION

Since the end of the 2019 I'm back home in Bogotá, Colombia after living abroad during 12 years. I'm currently working for the Town Hall of Bogotá with something called Restorative Justice, helping young people to repair the damage they cause to the society and having a second chance in their lifes, while studying a Masters Degree online with the International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP https://www.iirp.edu/) located in the US. Before that I lived in France, at the beginning in Toulouse during 4 wonderful months while I was learning the basis of the French language. After that I moved to Paris to develop my Start-Up named Bagshare Social which was the first Social Crowdshipping Platform which contacted Travelers with Social Causes, very inspired in the concept of sharing from Couchsurfing. Sadly, as the 80% of start-ups we didn't make it to the 3rd year and we closed down. Anyways we were lucky to learn big lessons and amazing people from all around the world :)

The 7 years before, I lived in Buenos Aires working for different Non Profit Organizations (NGOs) and volunteering for Voluntarios Sin Fronteras ( www.voluntariossf.org.ar ) while I was studying to finish my first Master's Degree in NGO's Management.

The last 3 years in Argentina I also worked as a Bartender for RF, the best mobile bar company in Argentina ( www.ramiroferreri.com ) while I was studying to be a Theater Actor.

Desde finales de 2019 volví a Colombia luego de vivir en el extranjero durante los últimos 12 años. Actualmente trabajo para la Alcaldía de Bogotá con la Dirección de Responsabilidad Penal Adolescente, brindando oportunidades para jóvenes en problemas con la ley, quienes a través del Arte y la Justicia Restaurativa buscan reparar los daños causados con sus actos. Al tiempo estudio una maestría a distancia en Prácticas Restaurativas el Instituto Internacional de Prácticas Restaurativas (IIRP https://www.iirp.edu/) ubicado en Pensilvania, EEUU. Los 3 años anteriores a mi vuelta a casa, viví en Francia. Al principio estuve 4 increíbles meses en Toulouse, ciudad que amé con mi alma. Luego me moví a vivir a París donde desarrollé mi Start-Up Bagshare Social que fue la primera plataforma de Crowdshipping Social que servía para contactar Viajeros con Causas Sociales, muy inspirada en el concepto de compartir de Couchsurfing... Tristemente no sobrevivimos a los primeros tres años, como el 80% de las Startups, pero felizmente aprendimos muchas lecciones y conocimos a gente increíble de muchas partes del mundo :)

Los 7 años anteriores viví en Buenos Aires, trabajando para diferentes Organizaciones Sin Fines de Lucro, estudiando mi primera maestría en Gestión y Dirección de ONGs y haciendo voluntariado en la Asociación Civil Voluntarios Sin Fronteras ( www.voluntariossf.org.ar)

Los últimos 3 años de mi estadía en Buenos Aires también trabajé como Bartender para RF la mejor barra móvil para eventos de Argentina ( www.ramiroferreri.com ) mientras estudiaba Actuación Teatral.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing because as a traveler I understand the importance of sharing with local people during your trips. It promotes tolerance and provides you with a wider vision of the world, much more than regular tourism.

Me sumé a Couchsurfing porque como viajero entiendo la importancia de compartir con gente local durante tus viajes. Este intercambio promueve la tolerancia y te da una visión más amplia del mundo, mucho más amplia que lo que puede darte el turismo regular.

I'm passionate about travelling, cooking, the theatre, volunteering and everything related to social causes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I don't have a favourite book but I find very inspiring Siddhartha written by Herman Hesse, it is about the life of Buddha, is very short and easy to read but at the same time it contains a lot of wisdom.

Recently I found The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield which can be lifechanging, but it depends of your reading taste.

Movies: I love many, but Brazil from Terry Gilliam is a classic I specially remember and every time I watch it again I find new elements... Some others are Memento, all the Stanley Kubrick and Chaplin stuff and many lifechanging documentaries like On Quête de Sens, Love Thy Nature (you can watch it for free in HD here www.uplift.tv) or Supersize Me... But also the sagas of The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars which brings you to endless worlds :D

Music: I enjoy many kinds of music, but the African rithms or the music with African roots are my favourite, specially the Salsa and the RAP.

Libros: No tengo un libro favorito, pero encuentro en Siddhartha de Herman Hesse mucha inspiración, habla sobre la vida del Buddha, es muy corto y fácil de leer pero al mismo tiempo contiene mucha sabiduría.

Recientemente encontré La Novena Profecía de James Redfield que puede cambiarte la vida, pero depende mucho de tu gusto de lectura.

Películas: Me gustan muchas, pero Brazil de Terry Gilliam es un clásico que recuerdo especialmente y que cada vez que veo me hace encontrar nuevos elementos. Otras que me gustaron son Memento, todo lo de Stanley Kubrick y Chaplin y muchos documentales que te pueden cambiar la vida como On Quête de Sens que tiene versión gratuita en HD con mil subtítulos online, Love Thy Nature (puedes verla gratis en HD acá www.uplift.tv) ó Supersize Me... Música: Disfruto muchas clases de música, pero los ritmos africanos o con raíces africanas son mis favoritos, especialmente la Salsa y el Rap...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving, I just did it once but I think I found a new passion in my life. I wish I could do it every week and I know someday I'll find a way of doing it 😉

Saltar en paracaídas, solo lo hice una vez pero creo que encontré una nueva pasión en la vida. Me encantaría poder hacerlo cada semana y estoy seguro que voy a encontrar una forma de poder hacerlo en el futuro 😉
