Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've met lots of great people and had lots of great experiences staying in hostels while traveling, but I find its often hard to meet locals because I spend so much time with the people I meet in the hostel.

I'm hoping that Couchsurfing will give me a different kind of experience that lets me form friendships and experience the culture of the places I travel to.

I also love learning new languages, and I would love opportunities to try speaking languages I've been studying and to teach you a language.

Interests

I'm an extremely curious person, so I have a lot of interests. The odds are good that I'm interested in what you're interested in.

A major focus for me recently is social media based entrepreneurship. I'm trying to figure out how to sustain my passions and skills by translating them into content that will be beneficial to other people.

On of my biggest interests is languages. I'm currently studying a large variety of languages, and plan to learn many more.

You probably won't be surprised to hear that I'm interested in travel. I'm hoping to spend most of my life traveling to different countries, learning their languages, experiencing their culture, and sharing that journey on social media.

I'm interested in dance, especially contemporary dance. Contact improvisation and Butoh are two of my biggest interests.

Contact improvisation is interesting because it is a very direct way of communicating without language and one of the most reliable ways to enter into a flow state.

Butoh is interesting because it provides tools for exploring and expressing the deeper, weirder currents in the psyche.

I enjoy Brazillian Jiujitsu, which I got a chance to study in Uruguay. I'm relatively inexperienced with it, but it is something I am going to be looking for opportunities to practice in the future.

I'm interested in health and fitness so that I can be physically prepared to dance and play and to look and feel good while doing it.

I am interested gymnastic strength training, strongman training, physical therapy, and nutrition.

I'm interested in books, movies, music, and art of all kinds. I'm also interested in seeing something new. I really like using art as a way of learning about other cultures and languages.

I'm interested in philosophy, design, science, and futurism. I enjoying thinking about the nature of reality in an abstract sense, what my vision of the good life is, and what trends I expect to play out in the future.

Recently I've been thinking a lot about how social media, cryptography, robotics, and other technologies are going to cause a transition towards decentralization.

I'm very interested in permaculture and sustainable architecture.

I've had some successful and gratifying experiences practicing small scale permaculture, and hope to visit farms and sustainable communities during my travels.

I have a long term dream of building my own house and designing a permaculture system, and producing a documentary about the experience.
