About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling the world to learn about its gastronomy and culture. I also want to meet other incredible people and learn about their way of life and stories.

ABOUT ME

My name is Daniel.
I have been a chef for about 13 years in many countries.

I travel the world to learn about its gastronomy. Throughout my previous extensive travels i have always stayed in hostels, which are fine. However, after couchsurfing for a while, I can't really see myself staying at hostels anymore. The connection with host and surfer is like meet a new friend that you can relate to and wonder why you haven't met before?

I love meeting new people. I would love to learn about the culture of the country i'm visiting. If you or your parents cook, it's a big bonus to me. Teach me everything you know about your cuisine and what makes it unique!

I travel budget and light. I do not require alot, making me a very easy traveler. I am neat and considerate, and hate to trouble people.

PHILOSOPHY

What comes around, goes around. Good deeds never go amiss.
"when i do good things, I feel good. When i do bad things, i feel bad. That is my religion" - Abraham Lincoln
“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.”
― Anthony Bourdain, No Reservations: Around the World on an Empty Stomach

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I meet up and participate in organized CS events! I love meeting new people, especially in new places. I have been hosting people for a while and now I'm spending most of my time surfing. I loved every minute i spend meeting with these amazing couchsurfers and hosts

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One of the best couchsurfing experience i've ever had was in Fiji. The host was so welcoming with wide open arms (literally) and introduced me to all her family members. She had lots of information to share with the travelers and even took me out to go sightseeing. We ate together and played with her lovely children. I was treated like royalty, kindness and love, the best part was that they never expected or wanted anything back. I had to a lot to learn from them.

Interests

I. Love. to Cook. It's my life, my passion and my career. IF you can teach me cooking from your culture, you'd be my best friend for life. In turn I can teach you something too!
I carry around a harmonica in hopes to getting better at it, but I've made no significant progress, I would like to learn more other instruments too!
Dancing is something else that i love to do. I do mostly Swing Dancing, but I use to do Hip Hop and BBoy. I'm always interested in learning new dance moves/styles.

Others things i love: Cultures. Languages. Gastronomy. Technology. Exploring. Traveling. Hiking. rock climbing. social drinking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Quentin Tarantino. The Coen Brothers. Shawshank Redemption. Ace Ventura. The Hot Fuzz Trilogy. Any Marvel TV series. SCRUBS. Friends. Psych. etc.

My new favourite book: The Hundred Year Old Man who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared. if you haven't read it, do it. It's insanely Hilarious.

Music: I love most music, except for rap, mad hip hop, screaming metal and the worst of all, mainstream pop radio music. Everything else, there is a time and place for it.
I can listen to any blues and rock n roll anytime.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling the world for 2 years.
Meeting some of the world's most incredible people and tasting insanely delicious foods.
Opened a gastropub with a friend.
Cooking in kitchens in different parts of the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to cook, I can teach you a thing or two about it. I can also tell you about the culture of most of the countries I have been to, advise about them, etc.

I would love to learn about the culture and the gastronomy of the country i'm visiting. Makes it much better if there was a local available. The ultimate experience is if YOU know how to cook something from your country and we can have a dinner party together! That'll be best.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A huge knowledge of anything food and cooking under the sun. ANYTHING you want to know, I should already know. I can teach you to cook something from somewhere in the world if that's what you are craving from your previous travels!
I can get you in contact with people that i know from the world who are more than willing to be your local guide! If i know some, so will you!
