PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is to do whatever makes you happy without doing harm to others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted quite a few people and surfed once.It completely negates the whole purpose of the CS profile and system to send a generic email. It's a real pet peeve for me and I won't host anyone who sends me a mass email so please write something you found interesting in my profile so that I know you read it.
Please also use the couch request button instead of the message, it's much easier to respond to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I first started hosting I had a small studio apartment and have since moved into a larger place with an extra bedroom. Before I was concerned with keeping the little bit of space I had uncluttered and clean, now I just hope that surfers will keep their space organized. In my old place I accumulated a broken stove, a broken wine bottle opener and a broken food processor and I didn't break any of them. In this new kitchen, I am sure that I can't allow surfers to use it because the appliances are not mine and I really wouldn't want to have to replace them if anything happened on accident. I'm very happy to open up my new home because it's nice meeting new people and sharing my life in Florence but I also have to be clear about the things that I don't appreciate.
If you have a crazy tourist agenda filled with endless visits to all of the museums and churches in town and a list of lonely planet recommended places to eat then I'm probably not the best host as I prefer to share my everyday life, things I like and let people see the city through my eyes. CS is more about shared experiences than a bed to sleep in, if you aren't interested in meeting people then better to stay in a hotel. I'm obsessed with keeping my white couch white and my hardwood floors good as new, that means no dirty jeans sitting on the couch and no shoes in the house.
