关于我
Hey! My name is Dan, I am a digital nomad working and traveling in Europe (currently - France).
As many of you here, I am fond of traveling and meeting new people :) I lived most of my life in Belarus, studying and working between two cities, and now the circumstances finally allow me to hit the road and embark on a journey around Europe!
My profession is a software engineer. I work for a company that applies artificial intelligence to analysis of dental x-rays for better disease diagnostics. Even while traveling, I prefer to be working on projects that I believe in: there is nothing wrong with relaxing when one wants it, but for me physical traveling alone can become exhausting if I'm not also moving towards my other goals in life, so I tend to combine it!
Learning is one of my greatest passions in life, whether it is learning about academic disciplines or world and people around me. I can spend hours listening or reading about things I would likely never "need" for my career. If you're a curious person, or have a good sense of humor, we would totally get along well!
I consider myself an open-minded person who respects borders. I like the intellectual debate and I can discuss any topic out there, but I am not the person who insults people because their opinion is different. I enjoy deep and long meaningful conversations, but also lighthearted chitchat or simply the silence :) you won't feel overwhelmed around me!
If you are thinking "is this guy even safe to let into my house?", I want to tell you just one thing: the closest I've ever been to prison is for taking part in non-violent protests against dictatorship in my home country :) I won't ever annoy you or abuse your hospitability, because my upbringing doesn't let me.
My trip schedule is flexible and I am open for any kind of interactions: I usually request hosting for places where I am planning to come, but if you're unable to host me we still can hang out when I'm in the city or simply chat!
I would also love to meet here travel buddies or other digital nomads to share the experience with :) If you're one of these people - hit me up with a message!
我为什么加入 Couchsurfing
One of my biggest interest has always been traveling and meeting people! Some of my previous trips were unfortunately constrained to superficial bus tours, never getting a chance to interact with the city and people who live there. But there were also those were I had a chance to encounter many amazing individuals, spend some quality time with them and learn! I enjoyed them much more than just a rushed sightseeing and taking pictures for instagram.
Moreover, I simply like the concept of couchsurfing! Traveling in the modern world has been severely commercialised, making every trip revolve around money and shiny tourist attractions, not people and human connections. It doesn't have to be that way!

音乐、电影和书籍
[-----Music-----]
Classical, instrumental and folk music are forever in my heart! Listening to country music makes me want to buy a pickup truck and move to a countryside.
Besides that, I am a typical enjoyer of some famous British & American bands (Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Muse, The Strokes, The Last Shadow Puppets, Placebo, Nothing But Thieves) and some bands who sing mostly in Russian or Belarusian. I tend to find tracks that I like from all genres of music!
[-----Books-----]
You can check out some of my favourite literature on GoodReads: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/85001138-daniil-barysevich
[-----Movies-----]
Some of my favourite movies are Gattaca and Inglorious Basterds, but it's quite hard to select the best.
Among TV series, I liked (Mr.Robot, Peaky Blinders, Queen's Gambit) and some classics of sitcoms (Friends, The Office, The Big Bang Theory)
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
I would name three :)
1. Went on a hitchhiking trip around Belarus and Ukraine
2. Lived in India twice, first to attend International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (Bhubaneswar), and then to do an internship (Manipal)
3. Climbed up a snowy mountain in Zakopane in just my running shoes (it was not that extreme, but still fun! especially to slide down afterwards)
教,学,和分享
I can teach English and Russian or at least help practice.
In case you are interested, I can also share my knowledge of computer science, programming and artificial intelligence, give advice on studying or just share my experience!
I can also play guitar or piano for you or even teach you unless you already play it better than me :)
I am a good listener - if there is something on your mind, or maybe you feel stuck or confused about something in your life, I can always listen and talk! Needless to say that I am not a certified therapist or a self-help book (although I can argue that I am better than some of them), but I consider myself a fairly good friend and quite often people find it helpful to talk to me.
I am also fond of astronomy and I used to even participate at the olympiads when I was at school: we can go stargazing if you're interested!
And of course I can share all my experience from my travels, life in countries that I've lived in, awesome stories from my life and knowledge from books that I've read!
