About Me

Hello everyone, I am Danilo (you can also call me Dani)!
Although I am familiar with Couchsurfing since 2012, I must admit I was really out of date about this community for a long time… I know... bad guy! But finally I am back and I hope I start sharing much more from this “new beginning”.
Born and raised in Colombia. Educated in Colombia, Canada and China. Worked in Colombia and China… and now settled here in China where I am working and studying. As the time goes by I consider it is becoming harder for me to define my identity based on nationality or belonging to an specific place, instead I like the citizen of the planet idea. So where are you in the globe?
If educational background matters to you I have a little bit of this and that: Bachelor on Hospitality and Tourism Management, now coursing my Masters on International Chinese Education and also have some certificates on Teaching Spanish (my mother tongue( as a Second Language.
My main motivation tends to be language and cultural issues, indeed I think the places I have been to and the jobs I have done until now, are all a reflection of it. I like reading and listening stories, and if they have some sort of historical or archeological value… you will have me there curious and fascinated.
Why am I back here?
Well, it took me time, but I am decided to explore more new places going on my own. I think that people in this community are mostly sharing the same interest in getting to know a place through its locals or people who already are familiar enough with it. Hopefully getting to know some new friends and sharing with people with whom we can build valuable relationships.
I am looking forward to hear from your journeys and enrich mine with our coming exchanges.
And if you were able to read down till here, I am grateful for your time and attention.
Cheers!

Interests

Either alone or sharing with someone, I try to enjoy being in the moment.

From reading, joking, playing video games, listening to music or cooking at home.. to going out walking around the city, practicing and learning languages, clubbing, cafes, going outdoors, practicing some taichi...

Especially, when traveling, I tend to be flexible in my plans, so I am always open to suggestions.

Music, Movies, and Books

Very wide in all these terms I guess. Here's a brief list of what I just remembered lately to give you an idea:

MUSIC

Lady Gaga, Yelle, Daft Punk, Debussy, Chopin, 王菲\ 王峰\, 张震岳, Shakira, Rihanna, Fiona Apple, Vangelis, Ryuki Sakamoto...

MOVIES AND SERIES:

Gladiator, Kite Runner, Sense 8, Marco Polo, The Danish Girl, Litle Miss Sunshine, Kung fu Panda, Transamerica, Batman...

BOOKS:

La Casa de los Espejos, Ci Xi, Dorian Gray's Picture, Brief History of Humanity, The Litle Prince... some other self-learning stuff about Management, Cooking, Language Education...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The holiday I went with my family to Santander, where we practices some extreme sports in its lakes and hills. It's definitly releasing and exiting.

The Colombian Pacific's beaches and all of the things you see there surrounded by such nature. What I like the most was waling into the jungle at night, just iluminated by the stars to see a local place they call the Love Fall... it's just amazing.

Skiing, improving my english and practicing martial arts at Montreal's China Town were 2 thins I'll never forget of mine living there. In both cases you met amazing people and share unforgetable experiences.
