About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet as many people and learn from as many people while my heart still beats

ABOUT ME

I believe my best friends would say I'm a trendy/hip guy (not a hipster!) but genuine, randomly random, full of energy and respect, possibly A.D.D. (but I personally believe you lose creativity by taking medication), extremely passionate in regards to meeting new people and developing a larger web of communication/networking...because, well, you know...I major in Mass Communications. I'm a polite individual and I somehow have the ability to connect with almost every person with whom I come in contact -- it's awesome. My friends would also tell you I sleep 4-5 hours on a regular basis because I'm always ready to be ready for whatever my body is telling me to be ready for -- it's strange, but oh well. Not sure what else to say for right now, buuut I'm the master of comic relief!

PHILOSOPHY

Not one snowflake is the same. Not one person is the same. With just one exhale of a breath that snowflake will melt and never be seen again. A person's life is just as fragile as a snowflake, so be heard. be seen. be something.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm brand new to it, but I'd like to stay with this, especially for the summer. I have a relatively small couch, but I have a couple air mattresses and even a solid mattress that can be put in the living room. My roommate Sean and I are some night owls, so we're usually up pretty late just watching Netflix or spinning records.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None! I want to ASAP

Technically I couchsurfed at my aunts house for a few months, I guess

Interests

Music. I literally spend hours (even while in my classes) finding new music. Mostly instrumental/experimental bands from around the world, alternative folk, math-rock, post-hardcore, melodic hardcore, or the latest favorite of the lo-fi 60s garage rock influenced bands. Vinyl records keep my head spinning and I love it -- I've spent way too much money on records, but that's one thing you can never make a copy of, so I'd rather spend $10 on a record than two subs from subway that would last me two days. Heck, there's always ramen.

Photography. I'm an amateur, and I prefer it that way. There is so much to see everyday that our brains cannot hold that mental picture in some file tucked away, so why not take pictures? I get inspired everyday through my friends (who are photographers) and what I stumble upon on...well...StumbleUpon.

Film. I have a lot of film classes for school, so I usually spend a lot of my time editing and enjoying the visual work I get to develop and create something of my own. It may not make sense to anyone else but my Mac, however I thoroughly enjoy piecing together strands of recorded material that exercises my brain.

Chicken tenders and chocolate milk. It's weird, I know -- but I seriously love going to different restaurants/diners/etc and testing their chicken tenders and, if they have it, chocolate milk. I'd love to go around the world for the Travel Channel and test all of the CT's and CM's I could...one day...oonnee day.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: TRMRS, Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Don Caballero, The Hex Dispensers, Bear VS Shark, La Dispute, Autistic Youth, Defeater, Caravels, Gifts From Enola, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, Battles, Tom Waits, Byrds of Paradise, Caspian, Cursive, Slint, Russian Circles, ISIS, El Ten Eleven, mewithoutYou, Minus the Bear, Chuck Ragan, Lucero, Friendo, Interpol, Jose Gonzalez, Josh Small, Rooftops, Gogol Bordello, The Beaches, Beach Fossils, No Age, Night Beats, ooohh man I literally could list at least two hundred artists ranging from so many different genres, and all so exciting.

Movies: Hannah Montana Saves Christmas. jk I don't even believe that's a movie...yet. But seriously I enjoy any Ryan Gosling film, Wristcutters is an absolute favorite, Citizen Cane, most Woody Allen films, HOT ROD, Splinterheads, Zombieland, Adventureland, artsy documentaries, Big Fish, Leslie Nielsen (Naked Gun, Airplane, etc), a bajillion more comedies and B-comedies like Hobo with a Shotgun, and Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Basically every Bill Murray movie, especially What About Bob, Scrooged, Groundhog Day, and Kingpin.

Books: Without Feathers by Woody Allen. Travels with Charlie by John Steinbeck. Any book about photography and its history. Graphic Novels such as Clumsy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Let's go with the most recent! I'm sitting in my car with my friend Vu (he's Korean and awesome) in the parking lot of Target, and the rain began to come down in a strange way -- one drop of rain held 20 drops of rain...just light and then heavy once it hit. 'Ol Vu has the passenger window down and his right elbow resting above the lowered window, and then we were blinded and nearly made deaf by the LOUDEST LIGHTNING BOLT which smashed into the planted tree within TEN FEET of my car. It honestly sounded like a machine gun bursting into our ears. Splinters from the tree landed on my car, and yes, we both screamed like little girls. It was insane, but phenomenal. Whew.

Seeing Explosions in the Sky after maaannnyy years of not being able to go to their shows. Last year they came to Baltimore, MD's Rams Head Live, and if you paid an extra $10 you were able to hang in the 'lounge' area and get drink specials, etc. Also they let you into the venue 15 minutes before the doors opened. Needless to say, I was against the stage in a rather large venue to see one of my absolute favorite bands. The entire set left my heart rate in such a state I thought I was dead. I could have died. It may not seem like a passionate experience, but when you listen to one band for year after year and develop a blood flow of cells that move up and down your body in a different pattern when listening to this band, you would be awestruck as well. So amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Adaptation is key to surviving. Upon meeting new people, it's important to adapt to them -- in doing so you'll learn something new and you'll grow stronger as a human, as an individual at the same time. It's a win-win!
