About Me

I'm going on an adventure!

Basically I'm headed out on a long tour of the United States, going by road, bus, train, or however, to spin around, see the country, see old friends, and hopefully make new ones! I'm also taking this time to read a bunch of books I probably should have read already and to write fiction.

Bit of background: born in Missouri, spent most of my life in St. Louis. Went to Miami, FL for college (Go Canes) and studied (among other things) philosophy and english and math, then went back to St. Louis for a few years to work and live in the city a little as a grown-up person, and am now ready to wander a little.

I like books, music, bikes, beer, and good company. I can cook a little, I'm happy to help with chores/cleaning, and I like to think I'm clean and easy to get on with. I also play ultimate, so there's that one, too.

I'm blarging[sic] about it at dannytakesatrip.com, if you'd like to get some sense of me beforehand.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Housing options during my travels!

But also more seriously: I'd like to meet folks in the new places I'm going, especially those cities where I know no or few people. A large part of my planned travels are to explore and experience new places and people and ways of living, and this seems like a great way to do that.

Interests

As mentioned, books, music, bikes, beer, ultimate, and good company are primary, but I'm also interested in lots of the classic "liberal arts" kinds of things: art, social issues, philosophy, poems, etc. But I also like to party a little, so, you know. I'm always down for dancing. Yay, dancing!

Music, Movies, and Books

Uh, classical, jazz, older rock and metal, some of that indie-folk stuff, anything with good harmonies.

Movies? Well, I like them, but I haven't seen a lot of them, but favorites include Star Wars kinds of things, Audrey Hepburn kinds of things (+1 Funny Face), and comedy kinds of things (both the good and the bad kind).

Books: lots and lots. Particularly "literature," cheap thrillers, poetry books, and how-to books.

What I Can Share with Hosts
