About Me

I'm a 31 year old guy from Wales who has been teaching English abroad since I turned 21. I started using couchsurfing in the beginning of 2023, when my wife and I spent about 5 months traveling around Jordan and Latin America. Right now, I'm working in Ifrane, Morocco (without my wife, for now). I've been here since late August, seen a bit of Morocco so far, and I'm really enjoying the country. I travel every chance I get, whether it be wherever I am living at the time, or abroad, and I'm fortunate enough to have plenty of chances to do so thanks to the amount of days off that I have each year.

Anyway, if anybody is willing to host me, that'd be great, and if anybody is also willing to hang out with me or even show me around, that'd be even greater!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and some of my favourite experiences while traveling have been when I've spent a few days hanging out with locals.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm pretty big into punk, rock and some metal music, as well as a few other genres. I'm always looking out for new stuff, but here are a few bands that I like off the top of my head: Dead Kennedys, AC/DC, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Motorhead, Rancid, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Howlin' Wolf, Freddie King, Metallica, Anthrax, The Chats, Amyl and the Sniffers, Funkadelic, Beastie Boys, Pink Floyd, Jorge Ben Jor, IDLES, Netural Milk Hotel, Fela Kuti, UK Subs, Credence Clearwater Revival, Viagra Boys, Kino and many more.

I also read a lot (mostly history books/other non fiction, but sometimes fiction too (e.g. Tolkien, Orwell, Dostoyevsky).

As for movies, I'll watch almost anything, but Kubrick, Kurosawa and Scorsese are probably my favourite directors, and Apocalypse Now is probably my favourite film.

The Sopranos and The Wire are probably my favourite TV shows, and I'm also a minor Star Trek nerd.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wouldn't exactly call it amazing, but I moved to China at the age of 21 by myself, right after travelling solo around China and South East Asia for 6 months.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach English as a profession (my master's degree is in teaching English to speakers of other languages, and I have taught English at universities since 2015), and I could probably also do a decent job teaching some very basic Chinese or maybe even Spanish if you're interested.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think I tend to get along pretty well with most people. We are also interested in learning about the lives of different people around the world. Even if you think you're boring, you're probably interesting to me.

... I'm also clean and respectful, which as far as I'm concerned at least, should be an important thing for surfers!
