I got some of similar travel experience in Thailand and Korea in these recent years, it's a surprisingly great way to get to know the local people and the local culture. Their help and kindness to me is beyond my imagine. Since then, me and my roommates started to invited backpackers to stay at our apartment, we took them to have some nice food around the city and did some crazy but nice tour visit as well.

a clean the tidy mattress in a not too big apartment in Hong Kong, fridge, bath, free wifi..... feel free to use all the facilities at our house, 2 really nice roommates would like to show you around the city whenever they are available.
