About Me

I ask that you please give me at least a two weeks notice if you'd like to surf at my place.

Danny currently resides in Minnesota’s largest city, Minneapolis. He spends more time reading and talking about poetry than he does writing it. For some reason, a certain percentage of people — about 22% — will always ask him the following questions:

1) Can I call you DJ?
2) Have you ever heard the song Danny Boy?

His answers are, respectively, “absolutely not,” and “yes, but I’m not crazy about it.”

The most common name during his birth year was Michael. He’s known guys named Michael. He often wonders if he would be editing postcard poems if he were named Michael, rather than his given name, Daniel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have yet to have any hosting experiences yet! If you would like to be my first surfer, be my guest!

I started surfing through central Europe last year. I plan to continue surfing and hosting whenever I get the chance.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had minimal Couchsurfing experience. I've traveled throughout the United States, but didn't use this particular website. I was luckily paired up with friends of friends. I'd love to experience Couchsurfing to it's fullest, though.

Interests

I am interested in travel, but am currently unable to escape from Minneapolis for a long period of time as a result of me being trapped in the belly of a cubicle. I really enjoy reading and writing poetry, playing music, enjoying a delicious beer, cooking decent food, and bicycling. After a drink or two I'll likely try to talk to you about community formation, social identity, structures of power, and the examination and the critique of society and culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Recovering music snob. If I begin telling you about how post-rock music is the classical music of the 21st century, slap me.

Movies: I attempted to dive into the vast world of the Criterion Collection last summer, but my journey was put to a halt as a result of my substantial library late-fees.

Books: My favorite author is Hermann Hesse; I'm crazy about him! I also am into reading poetry of all sorts. I'm most fond of post-flarf and conceptualism, though. I also tend to read a lot of the classics. I'm interested in social theory, critical theory, and attempting to understand cultural history through fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled across nearly all central, western, and northern Europe by train, plane, and boat. Everyday was an excellent adventure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching people, but if someone were to ask me to teach them, I woulnd't even know where to start. I'm passionate about culture, history, and the environment, so perhaps we could start there. I also love to learn. Teach me whatever you'd like! I'm sure I'll greatly appreciate it. I also use to teach writing and social research methods at my university
