About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spreading good vibes, love and being positive. I travel as much as I can to meet new people and experience the wonder of culture and food. For me, it's all about the journey, not the destination.

ABOUT ME

I am a photographer, radio reporter and newsreader, bon vivant, constant traveller, writer, marathon runner, fixed-gear cyclist, beer league hockey star, wine geek... and a foster father for retired racing greyhounds (dogs!).

I like getting lost, with no path or plan... writing my own small 'guidebooks' along the way.

I LOVE meeting new and intriguing people, and swapping inspiring tales of adventure, especially with others who enjoy travelling and exploring the world. I like meeting creative people, and learning about their experiences and the world they live in.

I believe I was born to travel, write about it, and share my experiences with anyone who will listen and talk.

I'm also part of the Hejorama.com team with some friends from Paris, who I met through CS.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life one day at a time, and don't worry about tomorrow. Enjoy the night, and smile in reflection of a life lived to this point in time.

Travel anywhere you want to, anyhow. Just go.

Share your experiences with those who will listen, but don't tell them how to live their lives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couch surfed in Europe and across North America ... and did so before it was CouchSurfing. I've hosted many more, as it's one of the best ways to meet new travel friends. I host when I can, can meet for coffee whenever one likes, and always surf as much as possible when travelling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've CouchSurfed all over Europe and America, having met many great friends while abroad, or close to home. I credit myself as always being an excellent guest, a decent tour guide and a perfect coffee date back home. I'm meeting more and more amazing couch surfers all the time. CouchSurfing even led to me meeting some of my closest friends at Hejorama.com ... an online travel magazine and social networking platform.

Interests

Cooking, a nice whisky, wine, travel, photography, style, ice hockey, futbol/soccer, reading, radio, political history, philosophy, language, coffee, Champagne, walking and running for miles.

Always looking for a good time, to learn something new, and to challenge my mind and be challenged by intellect.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dylan. The Clash. Punk. Electronic. All of it! I like music played loud, and music I can dance to.

Dostoyevsky, Kerouac, Hemingway ...

We'll talk about all this when we meet....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Served tequila to the president of Mexico (I have an aunt and uncle who live in Mexico who don't believe me!!)
- Travelled by train over the Gokteik Viaduct in Burma (just like Paul Theroux in "Great Railway Bazaar")
- Ran four marathons: Amsterdam, Paris, Chicago, Berlin.
- Ran the Paris Marathon with even more friends.
- Rode a camel in Morocco.
- Saw a match at the Nou Camp in Barcelona. Ronaldinho scored.
- Swam at Shark & Ray Alley in Belize.
- Saw several hockey games at historic Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
- Slept in Cappadocia caves in Turkey.
- Festival season in Edinburgh, Scotland.
- Saw Bob Dylan play (four times!)
- Was invited, and went on a tour of the Facebook campus.
- Drove 1,000 miles in 7 days around the Scottish Highlands/Skye.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to talk about my travel experiences, and share stories with other travellers. I am often asked travel tips and suggestions, which is great because I have been to a lot of places, and talking about in brings back the wonderful memories of past trips and experiences.

I am fascinated by stories of adventure, and love to share pictures if you have any (or a few bottles of wine and a few hours to check out my archive).
I love learning about culture and language especially. Living like the people, and seeing all aspects of day-to-day life in a new place is the best way to learn.
